Now, the back wheels are driven by default. The range for the single-motor version goes up, and the content for the two-motor version goes up by 276 miles. Polestar says that the single-motor version of the improved 2 EV now starts at $51,300, and the dual-motor version starts at $56,700. The base model’s price has gone up by $1500, and the AWD model’s price has gone up by $3400. The RWD car has a maximum range of 320 miles, and the AWD car has a full range of 276 miles. These numbers are up from 270 miles and 260 miles, respectively. Polestar has been making improvements to the two since it came out, and for the 2024 model year, some significant changes have increased the range and power of the four-door hatchback. There are also some tools and ways to change the way it looks. The base single-motor model now has 299 horsepower, up from 231. The dual-motor model now has 421 horsepower, up from 408 horsepower, and the 2 with the Performance package has 455 horsepower. More importantly, the electric motor in the car with only one motor now drives the back wheels instead of the front. Polestar says that even the all-wheel-drive type with two engines now likes the back more, and the front motor can be turned off in certain situations. We can’t wait to put the new vehicles through their paces to see how the switch to rear-wheel drive (and the new AWD system) changes their handling. The company says that each model will be faster than the one before it. The single-motor car’s range can go from 270 miles to 320 miles by putting in a bigger battery. The dual-motor vehicles still use the same battery, but Polestar says that performance improvements make it possible for the cars to go a little further than before. The EPA estimate went from 260 miles to 276 miles. With the 2024 model, you get more for your money because driver-assistance features are now available on the base model, and the Pilot package is now standard on the two-motor car. Polestar says the new vehicle will be available later this year.
