According to the most current spy photos, the Porsche Macan EV might go on sale in 2024 with little or no camouflage. The Macan EV will have a roof resembling a coupe, with a sharp drop behind the back doors. This is meant to make the car more efficient and increase its range. The Macan EV will be built on the new PPE platform, which offers faster charging times and up to 603 horsepower from two motors and all-wheel drive. Porsche’s second electric car, the Macan EV, is almost ready to go on sale, and our spy shooter has already taken pictures of it that show almost everything. The most recent photos, which were taken during tests in Germany, show in great detail how the body of the electric Macan is made. The most noticeable thing about the prototype is its sloping roof, which drops sharply after the back doors. The Macan EV looks like the Genesis GV60 because it has a hunched back and is short. Even though SUVs that look like coupes have become more prevalent in recent years, the curved roof was probably added to make the SUV more efficient and increase its range. All Macan EVs will almost probably have this body instead of a more traditional body shape with a “coupe” option. The front of the Macan EV resembles Porsche’s first electric car, the Taycan because the headlights are the same shape. However, larger housings in the trunk may make these lights only work during the day. Even though the taillights don’t meet production standards, a full-width light bar is under an electronically released rear flap. This is another aerodynamic way to increase range. Under the taillights, tape hides a design feature that looks like air vents. The upcoming Audi Q6 e-tron, which could fill a big hole in Audi’s lineup, will also be built on the Premium Platform Electric (PPE), a new design that will make the Macan EV possible. Last year, Porsche announced that the PPE, which can make up to 603 horsepower and 738 pound-feet of torque, will be offered in both rear-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive models. In comparison, the SQ6 version of the Q6 can make up to 482 horsepower, and a boost mode lets it make up to 509 horsepower. The main benefit of PPE is its 800-volt electrical system, which should let the Macan EV charge faster than the Taycan, which can only charge at a rate of 270 kW. Porsche says the Macan EV can be set from 0 to 80% in less than 25 minutes. The Macan EV should be shown to the public before the end of the year, and sales should start in 2024.
