• The 2024 Ram Rampage was first shown in Brazil. According to the Brazilian website Auto Segredos, the new small truck is coming to the United States.
  • All-wheel drive and the brand’s Hurricane turbo four-cylinder engine come standard. In Brazil, a diesel four-cylinder engine is also offered.
  • Even though the Rampage hasn’t been released in the U.S. yet, it was made in collaboration with Stellantis’ North American subsidiary, and its taillights have an American flag design.

Ram has done nothing while “little” cars have returned to the market. Since 2011 the midsize Dakota was taken off the market, and the pickup-focused brand has only sold the half-ton 1500 model in the United States. Ford just came out with the unibody Maverick, and Hyundai has joined the race with the Santa Cruz. With the release of the 2023 Ram Rampage in Brazil, there are signs that the new small truck could come to the United States and help the company make money in a market that has yet to be fully explored.

In March, a Brazilian car website called Car Segredos said that the Ram 1200 (also called the Rampage) would be sold in the U.S. to compete with the Ford Maverick. Antonio Filosa is the head of Stellantis South America. The article also talks about a smaller body-on-frame truck, which may or may not have anything to do with Dakota’s long-rumoured return. Even if this is just a guess, it is something to consider.

Rampage in Brazil

The Rampage, which is coming out soon in Brazil, could be a sign that it will also come out in the U.S. The unibody car is about 70.1 inches tall, 74.3 inches wide, and 198.0 inches long. From bow to stern, the Ram is about 1.7 inches shorter than the Maverick but 1.5 inches high. Also, the length of the Rampage is more than 3 inches shorter, coming in at 117.9 inches. The truck has a crew cab, but the bed’s size is unknown. It does come with an electric door, though.

Ram’s small truck resembles 1500, 2500, and 3500 models, especially in the front, where the grille and headlights are very similar. Even though it was the first Ram car to be designed and built in Brazil, it was styled by people from North America. This and the American flag design on the Rampage’s taillights are signs that it will be coming to our country.

The Rampage has McPherson springs in the front and a multi link suspension in the back. Stellantis’ Small Wide platform, which underpins SUVs like the Alfa Romeo Tonale, Dodge Hornet, and Jeep Compass, will likely be expanded for use in the Rampage. The truck can carry up to 2238 pounds, but that is with the 170-hp 2.0-liter four-cylinder diesel engine, which is not likely to be sold in the U.S.

The new Hurricane 2.0-liter turbo four would most likely be in the American Rampage. The Brazilian version says that it can carry up to 1,653 pounds. The engine has the same 268 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque as the Hornet. It comes with a nine-speed automatic gearbox and all-wheel drive as standard. Ram may also offer the plug-in hybrid truck with 288 horsepower, which is currently only offered on the sport-tuned Hornet R/T.

Three Ways to Taste Rampage

The Brazilian Rampage has three versions: the Laramie, the R/T, and the Rebel. The three cars have exciting features, like a 12.3-inch Uconnect touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and a 10.3-inch digital gauge panel. There are six USB ports, three USB-C, and a wireless charge pad that stays cool.

The Elite package is an add-on that comes with a 10-speaker Harman/Kardon radio, internal lighting that changes colours, and a front passenger seat that can be adjusted 12 different ways by power. The Rampage comes with driver aids like automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, blind-spot tracking, and help to stay in your lane as standard equipment.

The Brazilian news release says that the Rampage R/T trim level, shown at the top of this story, has the most information out of the three trim levels. It is said to have a louder twin exhaust system than the other types. It is also said to reach 62 mph a few tenths of a second faster, and have a Sport drive mode. Also, the suspension of the Ram Rampage R/T is 0.4 inches lower and has stronger springs and dampers. It looks better with 19-inch black wheels, more body-colour trim, hood lines, and decals on the sides of the bed. Inside are unique faux-suede surfaces and red stitching to draw attention to them.

The Rampage Laramie has 18-inch wheels and the most chrome on the outside. The inside is made of brown leather, which is more durable than the black leather on the Rebel type. The Rebel also has 18-inch wheels with all-terrain tires and may have other parts for use off-road.

Tomorrow, you can buy a 2024 Ram Rampage in Brazil, but it needs to be clarified whether a similar model will be sold in the U.S. Whether the Rampage or another pickup under development will allow the company to quit sitting on the sidelines and start competing with the Ford Maverick and other small trucks on the market remains to be seen.
