• Like the first SVT Lightning, the 2025 Ford F-150 Lobo is a street truck that focuses on speed.
  • The Lobo package comes with a 400-hp V-8 engine, special 22-inch wheels, a body kit, a lowered ride, and a unique grille with lit accents.
  • The F-150 Lobo has a starting price of $59,995, and Ford states it will be available for purchase this fall.

There are several off-road versions of Ford’s full-size pickup truck, including the Raptor and Tremor models. However, until recently, no F-150 model prioritized street speed. Here it is: the 2025 Ford F-150 Lobo. It’s the genuine successor to the 1990s SVT Lightning.

The 2025 Ford F-150 Lobo Is the Street Truck We've All Been Anticipating

The Life of the Lobo

Since then, Ford has called its electric pickup truck the Lightning. It’s not a street truck, but it can make up to 580 horsepower. Josh Blundo, Ford’s main exterior designer for the F-150 and Maverick, notes that the two cars differ in appearance, featuring a more aggressive look, a lower ride height, and, in the case of the F-150, a V-8 engine, and dual exhaust pipes.

All models of the F-150 Lobo come with a naturally aspirated 5.0-liter V-8 engine that makes 400 hp and 410 lb-ft of torque. Apologies to rear-wheel-drive enthusiasts, but this model features an upgraded two-speed automatic transfer case and all-wheel drive. The Lobo isn’t just for display—it’s capable of towing loads up to 7,900 pounds and handling a payload of up to 1,450 pounds.

The V-8 engine is used in other F-150 models, but only the Lobo looks this way. Blundo mentions that a new suspension system lowered the rear by two inches, and a 10-piece body kit further reduced the overall ride height. The Lightning, which is driven by gas, is lower than the Lobo, which is a shame. The new streetcar also has special 22-inch wheels that have been painted black. Bridgestone Alenza all-season tires, which are 275/50, don’t grip as well as summer tires, but they protect them.

Things that are on the outside don’t end there. No, sir.  Ford equipped the Lobo with a cowl hood reminiscent of a muscle car, featuring black-painted hood vents. A black rear bumper, black exhaust tips in the shape of barrels, and black front fender emblems complete the menacing color scheme. The Lobo differs from the F-150 that your contractor flies due to its appearance. The front bumper is the same color as the car and features a large grille at the bottom. The upper grille features a special mesh that is divided by lighting elements that connect to the headlamps.

The center panel lid of the Lobo is wrapped in leather, the seats are made of fabric with yellow contrast stitching, and the dashboard is covered in a risqué material. The 12.0-inch big touchscreen infotainment system resembles the ones found in older F-150s, and the driver faces a digital collection of instruments. Ford revealed that the Lobo will come in five unique exterior color choices: Agate Black Metallic, Atlas Blue Metallic, Carbonized Gray, Oxford White, and Rapid Red Metallic Tinted Clearcoat. They have not said what other colors are available, though.

For the F-150 STX trim level, you can get the Lobo package. To turn the second one into a street truck, you’ll need the crew-cab (also known as SuperCrew) body style, the 5.5-foot cargo bed, and the V-8 all-wheel-drive system we previously discussed. The base price for the 2025 Ford F-150 Lobo is $59,995. Ford’s plant in Dearborn, Michigan, will make it, and it will go on sale in the fall.
