• Ford has finally released the Mustang GTD, and it looks a lot more comfortable inside than you might think for a street-legal GT3 car.
  • The GTD’s interior is most interesting because of the extra back window, which lets you see the Mustang’s clever Multimatic rear suspension in real-time.
  • Ford also talked about the GTD’s optional Performance package, which has 20-inch magnesium wheels, active aero parts, and a chin that looks like a dive plane.

The 2025 Ford Mustang GTD has two windows in the back. One gives a steady look at the track-focused pony car’s back end, and the other shows off its unique pushrod-style rear suspension in all its glory. We’re finally getting to see the rest of the GTD’s interior for the first time today, and this function was also shown off.

Getting into the GTD

Ford showed off the $300,000+ Mustang GTD to the public for the first time in August of last year. Since then, we’ve shown you some of its coolest features. We can now look inside, though, and we both agree that it’s much more friendly than we thought it would be. The dash has room for the unique digital displays that were seen on older Mustangs. As you might expect, the carbon-fiber trim is all over the place, and the Recaro front seats look more comfy than the hard, barely padded buckets that come with other extreme track cars.

Other Ford Mustangs have steering wheels with a flat bottom, but only the GTD has special parts on it. The tiller is covered in leather and has buttons for changing the suspension and sound modes. The inside of the rim is made of microsuede. Drivers can also change the ratios when they grip the titanium paddle shifters, which are 3D printed and placed behind the wheel.

The GTD’s center panel has a rotary shift knob, just like the Ford Mustang Shelby GT500, which is no longer being made. This is how the eight-speed dual-clutch transaxle is usually used, but it’s not our favorite way to change gears. There are also physical buttons under the center stack that make it easy to get to the Track apps and the front-axle lift system. The GT500 also gave up its 5.2-liter turbocharged V-8 engine, which has been changed to make more than 800 horsepower.

Get ready to perform

Ford says that the Mustang GTD’s performance pack was made to help the car get a lap time of less than seven minutes at the Nürburgring. The pack comes with dive planes, a front splitter, and technologies that make the rear wing and flaps under the car less lift. The strong pony loses weight in a number of ways, including a diet, lightweight 20-inch magnesium wheels, and fewer materials that absorb sound.

As you can see above, the GTD with Chroma Flame paint comes with both the Performance pack and the Carbon Series treatment. People can see the car’s carbon-fiber roof, hood, and back “Tech Deck” in the second one. We have to wait to get behind the wheel of the Mustang GTD, but it looks great so far.
