• The electric Cooper SE hatchback from Mini comes in a sporty trim level called JCW.
  • It has the same electric motor with 215 horsepower as the model that doesn’t have a JCW.
  • In 2025, there will also be a John Cooper Works version of the Mini Cooper that is faster.

The JCW designation has never been given to a Mini EV before. Mini is giving the sporty John Cooper Works look to the new electric Cooper hardtop. But unlike the gas-powered JCW models, the 2025 Cooper SE JCW doesn’t get any extra power; it’s just an appearance package that adds sporty details inside and out.

The 2025 Mini Cooper SE JCW looks good, but it doesn't have any extra electric grunt

The SE model, which has 215 horsepower and a 54.2-kWh battery pack, is the more powerful Cooper Electric powertrain that comes with the JCW package. A different front grille and rear diffuser are part of the JCW body kit. The roof trim, mirror caps, and hood stripes are all red. As extras, the Mini has 18-inch wheels and brake calipers that are red. Inside, there are checkered flag patterns and red stitching around the seats.

There is still no word from Mini about when the new 2025 Cooper Hardtop will be available in the United States, so we can’t say for sure if this JCW trim level for the electric version will be available there. However, we know for sure that the gas-powered Mini Cooper will have a JCW version with a turbo engine that makes more power than the standard model. The internal combustion version of the Mini JCW has more power than the electric version, but this EV should be fine if all you care about is how sporty it looks.
