The Land Cruiser may not replace the cheaper 4Runner on its return day. Despite the Land Cruiser’s return, the 2025 Toyota 4Runner TRD Pro off-road model will have a turbocharged four-cylinder engine. 4Runner6G.com attributed this story’s information to “a long-time reliable insider source.” The new 4Runner will be produced in July 2024 as a 2025 model after being tested in the U.S. since March 2021. The 2024 Toyota Tacoma will remain an SUV despite its upgrades. This involves adopting Toyota’s TNGA-F base, design, and C-pillar to make getting in and out easier. The base model’s 2.4-liter turbo four-cylinder will power it. 228 hp and 243 lb-ft. 278 hp and 317 lb-ft power middle-range models. The Tacoma will only have a hybrid engine with 326 horsepower and 465 pound-feet of torque. This engine requires an eight-speed automatic gearbox. A 270-horsepower, 310-pound-feet six-speed manual will also be available. Once six-cylinder engines are phased out, Lexus will use the 3.4-liter twin-turbo V6 in the GX and LX SUVs. The TRD Pro off-road kit will replace Tacoma’s IsoDynamic shock-absorbing seats. However, the greatest 4Runner must squeeze next to the tougher Land Cruiser. Land Cruisers were luxury off-road cars, whereas 4Runners were lightweight SUVs. This needs to be clarified. This and reports that the Land Cruiser would have a classic design suggest that the Land Cruiser will be more capable and the 4Runner cheaper. Tomorrow, Toyota’s off-road star will reveal all.
