Volkswagen has made changes to the Golf GTI and Golf R, two sporty hatchbacks, for 2025. For the first time, we are getting a look at the US-spec versions of these cars. VW has already shown off the Euro-spec models. The starting price for the 2025 Golf GTI is $33,670, while the 2025 Golf R begins at $48,325. Finally, Volkswagen’s brand-new hot hatchbacks can be bought in the US. Volkswagen announced that the new 2025 Golf GTI and Golf R, unveiled today at the New York Auto Show, will be the first models available for sale in the United States. By 2025, both Golfs will no longer have manual engines, which is a shame. VW has also updated the powertrains, accessories, and entertainment systems in its sport compact cars. The GTI Autobahn shown in this picture is finished in a brand-new color known as Slate Blue. VW also made a few small changes when comparing the US model to the cars that were shown off last year in Europe. Because they don’t have the new design found on European cars, the headlights on the US-spec car look like they were on the old GTI. Turn signals are orange in the headlights and yellow in the front fenders. The same modifications have been applied to the 2025 Golf R in the US, which was showcased in its new Black Edition design. Volkswagen had already announced the US prices and specs for the 2025 Golf GTI and Golf R. The GTI will keep the same 2.0-liter inline-four turbocharged engine that made 241 horsepower. It will come in S, SE, and Autobahn trims, with prices starting at $33,670. With a 13-hp boost from its turbo-four, the Golf R, which starts at $48,325, now has 328 horsepower. The Black Edition costs an extra $1315. In both versions, the seven-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox is now the only choice.
