The 2026 GMC Hummer EV pickup and Hummer EV SUV feature bidirectional charging, allowing energy to flow from the vehicle to another EV or your home. A new off-road drive mode named King Crab spins the rear wheels faster than the front ones and employs rear-wheel steering to enhance agility. A new Carbon Fiber Edition features carbon-fiber trim and also reduces the claimed zero-to-60-mph time to just 2.8 seconds for this 9,000-pound monster. The GMC Hummer EV is definitely a Hummer—huge, cocky, and wasteful—even though it runs on electricity instead of a big V-8 like the Hummer H2 from the 2000s. For 2026, GMC is focused more on the luxurious Hummer look and has added a number of extra features. The 2026 GMC Hummer EV still comes in SUV and pickup truck body styles, but it gets a new off-road mode called “King Crab,” a beautiful Carbon Fiber Edition, and the ability to charge in both directions. The GMC “Push the Button” TV ads probably showed you the “Crab Walk” mode on the Hummer EV and Sierra EV. This mode uses the rear-wheel steering system to go diagonally at low speeds. With the new King Crab mode, GMC is using rear-wheel turning even more. This mode is meant to improve off-road maneuverability. In King Crab mode, GMC explains that the rear wheels rotate more quickly than the front ones, enhancing maneuverability when tackling tight off-road spaces. While it’s not clear if GMC made any other changes to allow this drive mode, it is said to be “software-enabled,” and owners of 2022–2025 Hummer EVs will be able to get it later this year through an over-the-air update. In 2026, GMC will release a new Carbon Fiber Edition for both body styles of the Hummer. At the moment, it is only available for the EV3X type. This edition’s all-terrain tires, black badges, a black power tonneau cover, and the unique Magnus Gray Matte paint and Velocity Ember interior come standard on all of them. Even though it was called “carbon-fiber,” GMC only used it rarely on the 22-inch wheels, side mirrors, and skid plate that made the truck stand out. The GMC Carbon Fiber Edition is reportedly the quickest Hummer EV so far, capable of accelerating from 0 to 60 mph in just 2.8 seconds. The Hummer EV pickup we tried was 0.5 seconds faster than the SUV by a tenth of a second. The change is due to the calibration of new software and hardware. GMC said that only a certain number of carbon fiber editions would be made, but they didn’t say how many. Along with these nice extras, the 2026 Hummer EV gets an important feature: bidirectional charging. This means that in the event of a blackout, the Hummer EV can send power to a connected home or another suitable car. GMC also improved the Super Cruise hands-free driving assistance technology, which lets the automatic lane-change feature follow your path when you use the Hummer EV’s built-in navigation system. GMC says changing the Hummer EV’s dampers has improved its ride quality. Two new exterior paint options—Coastal Dune and Auburn Matte—have been introduced, along with two fresh interior color choices: Granite Drift and Stealth Eclipse. Although production of the 2026 Hummer EV is scheduled to begin later this year, pricing details have not yet been announced. The starting price for the 2025 model was $99,045, but prices are likely to go up a bit.
