• For the 2026 model year, the Land Rover Defender will receive several updates, including new paint colors and revised lighting graphics.
  • The center console has been upgraded, and a new 13.1-inch tablet is now installed inside.
  • There is also a new adaptable off-road cruise control system and a camera facing the driver to make sure they are paying attention.

In 2020, Land Rover brought back the well-known Defender name. This was the first time in almost 40 years that the famous off-road vehicle got a new generation. Land Rover has showcased several improvements, including new colors, a larger touchscreen, and enhanced lighting, indicating that it is not satisfied with the latest Defender remaining unchanged from its predecessor. Up until now, these changes have only been shown off in Europe. Nonetheless, the 2026 model year of the Defender in the U.S. will receive comparable updates. Let me know if you want it to sound more formal, technical, or conversational.

The 2026 Land Rover Defender Features A Larger Screen And Adjustable Headlights

The changes in their appearance are not significant. The headlights now feature a new LED logo, fog lights are integrated, and the taillights are designed to fit flush with the body and have smoked lenses. A new textured pattern has been added to the hood and side vent trim, and the front and back bumpers have been reworked. There are two more paint choices for the Defender’s outside: Woolstone Green and Borasco Grey. The Defender’s wheel center caps now display a gloss black logo, while the grille bar carries a darker Land Rover emblem, also finished in gloss black.” New 22-inch wheels with seven spokes can also be added to the Defender.

All Defender models now come equipped with a newly introduced 13.1-inch touchscreen display. A 10-inch screen came standard with the model that was being discontinued, but an 11.4-inch screen could be added as an optional upgrade. To improve comfort, Land Rover redesigned the center console by adding a sliding compartment for storing small valuables and moving the gear shifter from the dashboard.

By adding what Land Rover calls an “evolution” of the All-Terrain Progress Control system, an adaptable off-road cruise control system, the Defender will be better equipped to handle rough terrain.  The Defender 130 also features an extra built-in air compressor, allowing you to adjust the tire pressure quickly. A new driver-facing camera has been added to the Defender to monitor and ensure the driver remains focused on the road.

The Defender Octa, introduced for the 2025 model year, now features two new paint colors, Borasco Grey and Sargasso Blue, along with Texture Graphite accents on the exterior. From late 2025 on, Land Rover will also sell the Octa and other Defenders with V-8 engines wrapped in Patagonia White Matte. Both the outside and the inside of the Octa now have carbon fiber parts.

The changes affect all three types of the Defender, from the 90 with two doors to the 130 with an extra-long body. Details and prices for the US market will be released later this year, but the basic price is expected to remain relatively unchanged from the $58,525 required to purchase a 2025 Defender.
