The new 2026 Subaru Trailseeker, built upon the Solterra platform, is approximately six inches longer. Subaru says the electric SUV can go “more than 260 miles.” It comes standard with all-wheel drive and about 375 horsepower. The Trailseeker is set to go on sale in 2026, with an anticipated starting price of approximately $45,000. Subaru’s first electric car, the Solterra, came out in 2023, but it hasn’t been a huge hit. Subaru, on the other hand, is showing off its second electric car, the Trailseeker. The new EV looks more like the rest of Subaru’s cars, even though the Trailseeker is clearly based on the Solterra, which is just a Toyota bZ4X with a different name. The Trailseeker has more of an SUV appearance, whereas the Solterra resembles a four-door hatchback. It is about six inches longer than the Solterra, and the extra length goes behind the back axle. Not only is it taller, but it also comes with stock roof rails that make it look more like an SUV. It goes well with the Forester and Outback, which are Subaru’s best-selling cars. The Trailseeker’s mechanics are based on the 2026 Solterra, which was just updated. The Trailseeker is equipped with two standard motors, both powered by a 75-kWh battery pack. This makes all-wheel drive possible. Both the Solterra and the Trailseeker have all-wheel drive systems that have 8.3 inches of ground clearance, hill slope control, and driving modes for snow, dirt, and mud. Subaru claims it has “approximately 375 horsepower,” enabling it to accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in just 4.3 seconds. The Trailseeker can also pull up to 3500 pounds. Range estimates put it at “over” 260 miles, which is a little less than the 285-mile range given for the ’26 Solterra. Most likely, this is because the bigger Trailseeker weighs more. Up to 150 kW of charging power can come from a normal NACS charge outlet at Tesla Supercharger stations. The Trailseeker has more cargo space than the Solterra, but the layout and design of the interior are about the same. The instrument cluster is shown on a smaller screen near the bottom of the windshield. The 14-inch tablet in the middle can connect to Apple CarPlay and Android Auto wirelessly. On the middle desk, there are two wireless charging mats for smartphones next to each other. The price isn’t set in stone yet, but the Trailseeker will start at around $45,000 when it comes out in 2026.
