Volkswagen has shown off the 40th Anniversary Edition of the 2024 Jetta GLI. It has a memorable anniversary logo, and the cloth seats have pictures only for that type. As a nod to the first model year, VW will only make 1984 special-edition GLI cars in the United States, starting at $29,235. The Volkswagen Jetta GLI is getting close to being old enough to retire, but it has yet to be there entirely. VW is making a particular version of the GLI for the 2024 model year to mark that it came out in 1984, 40 years ago. The paint choices for the anniversary model are Pure Gray, Pure White, and Rising Blue. Each shade has blackout details to stand out from the typical GLI red. Outside is a black grille, mirror covers, door handles, and black 18-inch wheels with ten spokes. Important Details The event is more critical on the commemorative Jetta’s inside than on the outside. One has the GLI sign on it, and the other has the year 1984 on it. Instead of the usual GLI logo, GLI 40 is written in large letters on the seat tags, door sills, and bottom of the steering wheel. VW says that each 1984 car with molecular cloth seats is unique, like a snowflake or a fingerprint. This is our favorite part of the milestone car. The 40th Anniversary Edition will be driven by the same turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder that gives the regular GLI Autobahn 228 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque. As a tribute to the first model year, Volkswagen will only make 1984 the milestone car. The one-of-a-kind Jetta will only be sold in North America, costing at least $29,235. Volkswagen thinks that shops will start getting cars later this summer.
