• One of the concept cars that will showcase BMW’s next wave of electric cars is the Vision Neue Klasse X.
  • When the new iX3 comes out later this year, the X will likely be our first look at it. We’ve already seen a test version that was covered up.
  • The Neue Klasse X has a beautiful form, and it also shows us how battery technology, in-car electronics, and ergonomics will change in the future.

It was a turning point for BMW in the 1960s. A Neue Klasse (or “new class”) sedan and 2002, which is one of our all-time favorites, were two things that the German car company did in that decade to boost sales. Taking ideas from the past, BMW will release possible all-electric cars under the new Vision Neue Klasse name. The all-new Neue Klasse has taken the place of the Vision sedan concept that BMW showed off last year. This car is expected to be an i3 sedan for 2026. When it comes out in 2025 as the iX3, the Vision Neue Klasse X, which is the biggest car with that name, will likely be the first all-electric X3 in the United States.

The BMW Neue Klasse X Concept is very exciting

BMW says that the outside of the concept car looks a lot like the final car. In fact, an SUV that looked a lot like the Neue Klasse X was seen testing in the snow earlier this year. The idea, which we learned about at a news conference outside of Lisbon, Portugal, was very detailed. The kidney grille has been changed into a moving, lighted, and lit part that seems easy to get to.

The LED lighting feels the same. When the sun is out, the moving lights look like lighting supports under a building. Like the red and blue parallelograms that make up BMW’s “M” symbol, their shape gives off a sense of movement. Also, the headlights and illuminated kidney grille dance and turn on when a car approaches or leaves, even when they are still.

The sides of the X are flatter and sharper above the wheels than those of the Neue Klasse car, even though the X is taller. The front tires on the Neue Klasse X idea are 275/35, and the back tires are 295/35. The 22-inch wheels are covered in Michelin Pilot Sport 4S rubber. The real car will be different from this idea. The wheels have standard lug studs, but they have a center-locking lug stud cap that looks real.

If you looked closely at the back of the Neue Klasse X, you might wonder how the back tailgate could be opened without breaking the headlights. It doesn’t, though. This is where the beauty of thought comes from. The door buttons on the Neue Klasse X work in a way that is similar to the Ford Mustang Mach-E. When you touch these knobs, they work, and a small winglet on the outside of the door opens them.

The Vision Neue Klasse X is more than just its very different look. The new iDrive operating system is shown off, and it has “four new super brains” that will be very important to the driving experience of the next wave of BMW cars. BMW also showed off its newest and most advanced voice helper, which is meant to look more human than Alexa or Google Helper.

The New Class X is bigger than the all-electric iX3 sold worldwide and the standard X3 sold in the United States. The inside is just as roomy as the X5. It has a screen for Panoramic Vision that can be changed in many ways. People in the car can touch and drag the information that’s most important to them into the upper display, which takes up the whole width of the dashboard right below the window.

The Neue Klasse X’s panel goes one step further with LED accent lighting inside by letting the shelf in the middle shine. The infotainment screen in the middle of the dashboard has taken the place of the iDrive controller that used to be in the center panel. You can look through your Instagram feed, play video games, and add your pictures and themes to the new UI to use as background images. It also works with a number of social networking sites.

Usually, driving range tests and acceleration times are used to judge performance. However, BMW is putting a lot of effort into winning the less well-known race of computers. Two “super brains,” like the ones used to power the all-electric i5, will be used in future BMW cars. These are new computer systems that combine the functions of systems that are usually split up into separate sections. The engine, stability, grip, and suspension now have more computing power, but that’s about the only interesting thing that’s been shown so far. In the future, the new information network should change how automatic driving works.

In terms of driving range, BMW said that the Neue Klasse X form is about 20% less windy than its current SUVs. Charging times will go faster with their new eDrive units, which use lithium-ion cells instead of colorful ones because they hold more energy. Neueste Klasse X says that the all-new iX3 will make the total drive range 30% longer. This could give it a highway range of about 240 miles if it is matched to an expected EPA figure from Europe’s Worldwide Harmonized Light Vehicles Test Procedure (WLTP).

The Neue Klasse X suggests that Hungary will start making the next-generation iX3 around 2025. The iX3 and long-wheelbase i3 car, currently made in China, will be made at the new Debrecen plant.
