Regarding design, the second version of the BMW X2 differs significantly from the first. There are two versions of the 2024 X2: the xDrive28i with 241 hp and the M35i xDrive with 312 hp. Both have an inline four-cylinder engine. People in the United States can buy the new SUV starting in March 2024, but the price has yet to be set. The BMW X2 is still exactly what we said it would be: faster and less practical than the X1. It is now in its second generation. The new model stands out because it doesn’t look like its sister. The M35i model is different because it has a different grille style and one exhaust tip for each cylinder. Inside, the X2 has the same angular speedometer and tachometer as the X1. It also has BMW’s famous curved display and gauge-cluster graphics that are sometimes criticized. You can choose not to have the 25-cubic-foot cargo room. Depending on the model, the dashboard and seats are covered in Alcantara. A big label on the vinyl says “animal-free Veganza” on the basic chairs. In the US, there will only be two turbo fours. In Europe, there will be a fully electric version, a four-cylinder diesel, a three-cylinder entry-level gasoline engine, and a powerful four-cylinder gasoline engine. The X2 xDrive 28i has a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that makes 241 horsepower. The X2 xDrive M35i has a version of the same engine that makes 312 horsepower. The base model has the same amount of torque (295 pound-feet), but it is released at lower revs. That’s more than enough to balance out the weight of more than 3,800 pounds: Reports say that the sprint to 60 mph takes either 6.2 or 5.2 seconds, and the top speed is either 149 or 155 mph, based on whether summer tires are used. Neither model can go faster than 130 mph if these tires are not chosen on the order form. All-wheel drive and a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox are standard on both models. Handling should be exemplary with a more extensive body, a wider track, and better chassis parts. The optional M Sport package should be added to the base X2 xDrive 28i because it has better brakes, different steering, and adjustable dampers. We will make a final decision once we’ve had a chance to test-drive the X2. It comes with the M35i xDrive.
