Check out how Flat Out Autos updated the Chevrolet K5 Blazer. A 2023 Chevrolet Silverado basic cab with 37-inch tires, a long-travel suspension, and a 22-inch lower frame is what’s inside. The $202,000 KR2 update comes with a supercharged Chevy small-block engine. These days, off-road SUVs and 4x4s are viral, and almost every car company makes at least one SUV that can be used in the dirt. A restored company in Arkansas called Flat Out Autos turned a 2022 GMC Sierra 1500 into a Jimmy SUV for the 21st century last year. The same business tried to make a new Chevy K5 Blazer for the SEMA show this year. Born Again: K5 Blazer Flat Out Autos named the new car KR2, which is an excellent parody of Chevy’s more modern off-road-focused ZR2 and the old K5 name. At first glance, the KR2 looks like the 2023 Silverado that has been widened and trimmed. This is precisely what it is. The KR2 is a regular cab version of a 2023 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 WT. For its custom build, Flat Out Autos cut the back of the cab open and shortened the frame by 22 inches to make a rear seat that is open to the air. Unique back quarter panels were installed on the bedsides, and a carbon fiber cover was added to finish off the K5 modification. From the source truck’s bare bones, the whole inside of the car has been restored. Instead of the cloth covers that were there before, red Katzkin leather has been put on the front and back seats. The KR2’s leading hardware The KR2’s track width has also been raised by seven inches, making it the same as the standard ZR2 Silverado. Fox Racing has both a Dirt King long-travel suspension package and coil-overs with remote reservoirs. The modified 4×4 also has an extensive set of 37-inch Nitto Trail Grappler all-terrain tires. A 10-speed automatic gearbox is paired with a 5.3-liter V-8 Chevy small-block engine. The engine in this truck came from an actual Silverado. For an extra $14,950, Flat Out Autos will also tune the car and add a Whipple blower. The model that has been boosted is said to have 467 horsepower and 440 pound-feet of torque at the back wheels. It costs a lot to want to own a new K5. When all choices are taken away, the converted KR2 is worth $178,000. The price is $202,000 when it comes with the supercharger, extra tire, and bed cover shown below. Even though we like the look of the short SUV, $202,000? Whoa.
