A new look and a new boss. The Chrysler Airflow idea has been around for so long and has gone through so many changes that it will be the first all-electric Chrysler car when it comes out in 2025. That was the plan from the start. Chrysler, on the other hand, has always been more agile and flexible than many of its rivals, and Stellates’ Chief Design Officer Ralph Gilles is used to making multiple versions of new vehicles before a final design is chosen.

He thinks the future Chrysler large crossover with two rows of seats looks more modern than the Airflow. The change is due to Chris Feel, the CEO of Chrysler Brand. When he took over, he had a new plan and rules. Gilles liked how Chris looked at it from her point of view. She asked for a statement that had nothing to do with the Airflow concept car or anything else you saw today. It is changing in a new way.

“Airflow was a good way to show again what kind of car Chrysler might want to make,” says Gilles. As a fun crossover story, it was a great place to start. Under Fewell’s new direction, the team wanted to do even better than what it had already made. Because of this, it is one of Gilles’s best designs, which is saying a lot coming from the man who came up with the concepts for the Dodge Charger Daytona SRT EV muscle car and the Ram Revolution electric pickup truck.

Two-row Chrysler electric SUV with a new look that works well

Early this year, Chrysler’s customer workshops for the large crossover concept were a big hit in Los Angeles. “So, we know we have a hit on our hands,” says Feel. That’s good to hear. Even Chrysler is ready for this. We’ve delivered the new, great product smoothly and are very excited about it.

The RU platform, which also supports the Chrysler Pacifica minivan, was used to build the Airflow design. The production crossover will be built on the STLA Large base, mostly made for electric cars. This platform has a flat floor with built-in batteries, better proportions and dynamics, and a more advanced electrical design.

More air is moving through. Style of the present

The production crossover has some of the same features and designs as the Airflow, but Feuell says the inside and outside are more current and up-to-date with technology. A lot of STLA technology will be shown off. It will be able to charge with both 400-volt and 800-volt devices quickly. Customers can choose between a simple version and one that can go up to 400 miles.

When the time comes, Chrysler will be the first to add new technologies to its cars to stay at the forefront of technology. One of these might be the ability to drive autonomously at Level 3. The company’s “harmony in motion” philosophy uses eco-friendly materials and seamless technology to help owners better control their mobility, communicate, and get things done in their daily lives. We need systems that are easy to get to, quick to use, and easy to understand. Fewell is very clear that everything should be available at a fair price.

It has nothing to do with wind.

Airflow is only the name of an idea. Fewell says that some people like the word “Airflow,” while others firmly tell us not to use it. The brand has been working with consultants to develop a short list of names. The brand boss is happy with the list, which has classic and new characters. When a brand tries to change, it’s more likely to get a new name.

Fewell thinks the number will be less than 300. It’s not suitable for this offering. It could be an excellent name for a product we put out in the future. I wouldn’t say never again because the word has a great background and reputation, but not for this use.

Dealers require ease.

Even though the new design will be shown next year, the production-ready car has already been shown to dealers. They needed to see it to keep their excitement up and be sure that the company was still putting money into the Chrysler brand even though they only had one model to sell this year. After the Chrysler 300 full-size sedan goes out of production at the end of the year, the Chrysler Pacifica minivan will be the only model available, and it will be expected to carry the brand for more than a year until the new electric SUV comes out in 2025.

Then there will be a minor storm. Fewell says that we’ll start putting out new goods in 2025, and by 2028, we’ll have a whole new portfolio. She didn’t say how many cars in total would be there. After the first crossover, we can expect a bigger model, like a three-row SUV, to go with the first model’s two rows. It will also be a battery-powered crossover with no choice for a hybrid drivetrain.

The company has yet to decide where either crossover will be made, but a healthy option is the retooled minivan plant in Windsor, Ontario, next to a new battery cell plant built in the city.

Since the Airflow idea has come a long way and the Ram REV production is a more conservative version of the Ram Revolution electric truck, we wanted to ask Gilles if we could expect any changes to the Dodge Daytona Banshee, one of our favorited designs. The final form of the electric muscle car will have the same look as the concept, says the head of design. “I’m happy. Since I finished The Viper, it has become one of my favorite books.
