I’ve often said that strange car stuff on the internet lasts forever. We’ve already discussed the unknown Mack cabbed heavy-duty truck and the pickup Volkswagen Beetle. Now we’ll talk about pickups. No one does it better than Smyrna, Tennessee, for convertible Solaras that have been turned into pickup trucks. This one has already been sold, but it was too good not to shitpost about, mainly because of how it was presented and how cleanly it looks like it was changed. From what I can tell, they started with a broken-down Solara that almost certainly had been hit from behind. The builder didn’t just connect a Solara rear end to the Toyota drop-top. Instead, he added the end of an Explorer Sport Trac bed. All in all, the work was excellent. Even though the bed has been cut down a lot and is now primarily just an open trunk, the Sport Track’s back body lines fit beautifully into the design of the Solara’s rear fenders. In the ad for the sale, a complete wheel and tire fit easily into the bed, showing a natural space for goods. The back door works as well. The rest is a standard Solara convertible, which is a shame. Most likely, the convertible top works. The 3.3-liter V6 still drives the front wheels crosswise, and the car has only been driven 153,905 miles. If you tend to see the best in things, the reliable part of the bed is left alone while you get a significant dose of the strange. The $4,700 price tag was a good deal for whoever bought it.
