• According to a recent report from Mopar Insiders, Dodge intends to reintroduce the Hemi V-8 engine to the Charger.
  • Along with two electric powertrains for the Charger Daytona and a new twin-turbo inline-six, the Hemi V-8 would be put back to the lineup.
  • As stated in the report, customers will not receive the Hemi-powered Chargers until the latter part of 2026.

A report from Mopar Insiders just two days ago said that Stellantis plans to move production to its engine plant in Dundee, Michigan, in August and bring back the Hemi V-8 for its cars. A new story from the same source says that Dodge plans to bring back the 5.7-, 6.4-, and supercharged 6.2-liter engines along with the V-8 in the redesigned Charger muscle car.

The Hemi V-8 Engine From The Dodge Charger Is Said To Be Coming Back

It looks like Dodge experts are already working on bringing back the V-8 Charger, but it won’t be available until late 2026.  On the other hand, you can now buy the electric R/T and Scat Pack Charger Daytona, which have 456 and 670 horsepower, respectively. Invoice-pricing asked a Dodge representative to speak on the matter, and we will update this story if we hear back.

In May, Hurricane twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-six Charger models with 420 and 550 horsepower will go into production. These models are called Sixpack.  The first deliveries to clients are set to happen this summer.

It’s not clear which version or versions of the Hemi will be put back into the Charger, but the fact that the supercharged 6.2-liter V-8 engine is back in production makes us think about the Hellcat’s possible return.  It remains to be seen if Dodge will take that path, but eight-cylinder Chargers and Ram TRXs may be back in style soon.
