Toyota has made numerous changes to its GR hot cars, even though they have been on the market for only a short time. For instance, the GR Corolla gained better cooling, more horsepower, and an optional automatic transmission just two years after launch. Many of its features were also carried over to the GR Yaris, keeping global markets up to date. Additionally, Toyota has just released a new limited-edition Yaris, which could be a sign of what’s to come for the Corolla. It looks very cute.

It’s called the GR Yaris Aero Performance, and most of the changes are visible from the outside, as the name suggests. To maximize airflow, the vehicle features ducts on the back sides of the front fenders and rear bumper, a front splitter, a large rear wing that can be adjusted, a cooling vent in the hood, and a cover under the floor. Toyota states that all these parts were manufactured using the knowledge gained from racing the Yaris in the Japanese Rally Championship and the Super Taikyu series.

The Hotter GR Yaris Hints At The Future Of The GR Corolla

The racing world inspired the hood’s vents, which allow the small 1.6-liter turbocharged three-cylinder engine to breathe when under pressure. You’ll notice that the updated GR Yaris front bumper already allows a lot more airflow through than the original. This change makes it even better. My favorite part, though, is the movable wing, which is now both useful and ugly. Putting “GR-Four” into the uprights is a nice touch.

Different parts of this Yaris can also be found in Toyota’s GR Corolla, which was released a few months ago. It had a new hood with a deep vent in the middle and a big wing that was hidden. Additionally, since the end of last year, a hatchback that bears an eerily similar resemblance has been spotted driving around the Nürburgring.

The hotter GR Corolla has been unofficially referred to as the “GRMN” type. Toyota has long used this name for high-performance cars made for the Green Hell in other countries. The Corolla doesn’t appear to have a trunk. When it officially launches this fall, it will be the first Gazoo Racing vehicle available in the U.S. and Canada. There is a lot to look forward to with Toyota’s all-wheel-drive sports cars.
