When an athlete gets to the top, a target is put on their back, and many athletes think that staying at the top is more challenging than getting there. This seems true even in hypercars, as the hybrid V8-powered Koenigsegg Regera beat the Rimac Nevera, which had been the king of EV acceleration until lately. Since taking the lead in the race, the Rimac has easily broken almost all of the earlier records for acceleration. Koenigsegg started working on their last hypercar with the EV in mind. They gave it new tires instead of more power, better aerodynamics, or even a software update. True, the Regera could get from 0 to 249 mph in 28.81 seconds thanks to Michelin’s new Pilot Sport Cup 2 R tires. Koenigsegg set a new record on a runway at Rebro Airport, south of Stockholm, Sweden. This track was better than the one that had been used before. The Regera, whose name means “to rule,” also broke the Guinness record for the fastest time to go from 0 to 250 mph, which was 29.60 seconds. Now that you have your runway, why not give it a try? According to Christian von Koenigsegg, “This record is vital to Koenigsegg.” This album has every kind of extreme act you can think of. The fact that the Regera still shocks and amazes the car industry after all these years is a sign of its timeless beauty, and its engineering and technology were way ahead of their time. Von Koenigsegg is very proud, saying, “We can’t wait to show you what’s next, as the Jesko customer cars are being delivered.” In May, the EV got a time of 29.93, which is okay. This means the Koenigsegg could speed up, reach its top speed of 249 mph, and slow down faster than the Rimac. The Koenigsegg set the previous record for this run in 2019 with 31.49 seconds. Even so, these and other numbers are still impressive, and it’s fantastic to see how much faster cars are going. Rimac, Koenigsegg, or another company will likely break this record. Also, the Jesko, Koenigsegg’s newest car, will want to be the center of attention once production is done in 2022.
