Photos of the following Land Cruiser SUV from Toyota have been released as teasers. After a short break, the Land Cruiser returns to the United States. We thought it would look much like the Lexus GX 2024, and these photos back up that idea. The long-awaited return of the Toyota Land Cruiser to the United States is almost here. Toyota’s most recent sneak images of the upcoming SUV don’t tell us as much as we’d like, but they suggest that the future 4×4 will be related to the 2024 Lexus GX, which just came out. When you put the two models next to each other, they look almost the same. They both have a windshield that is straight up, a side window line that rises at the back door, and a squared-off rearmost pillar. Based on our most recent drawing of the new Land Cruiser, which shows how this new car would look, the front ends of the Toyota and Lexus are expected to be very different. The teasers show the new Land Cruiser next to an old FJ40, which suggests that Toyota will focus on the off-road history of the brand. There will be a TRD Pro version, possibly with many of the same off-road design and technology upgrades as the GX’s Overtrail trim level. The two cars will also have the same engines. The base engine is a 349-hp twin-turbo 3.4-liter V-6, and an unspecified hybrid engine will come later. Toyota says that the Land Cruiser is “on the horizon,” meaning we might see it all by the end of this year. The Land Cruiser was supposed to be discontinued in the US after the 2021 model year, but it took a little while for Toyota to bring the brand back to our shores.
