• The company announced today that the new Kia K4, a small car, would be shown off on March 21. This is before the New York Auto Show.
  • Even though Kia only provided hazy pictures, the K4’s exterior looks exactly like the Kia Concept EV4 car.
  • It’s not clear whether the K4 runs on gas or electricity, but it could replace both the Kia Forte and the Kia Rio, which was taken off the market.

Soon, Kia’s new small car will be available at stores in the United States. A few sneak peek photos released today show that the Kia K4 will make its official debut on March 21, a week or two before the New York car show.

The new K4 compact sedan from Kia has design features that look like concept cars

An all-new Kia sedan

The three pictures Kia sent us show the top of the car. The front of the roof has a big glass panel, like the layout on the Kia Stinger, which is no longer being made. The K4 looks like a coupe because its roof slopes down into a small back decklid.

The wide base of the back pillars reminds me of older Kia cars, like the electric EV4 prototype, the Korean-spec K3, and the Stinger. The concept car influenced some of the K4’s style elements, as the headlamp and taillight designs are very close to those of the concept car. The K4’s side body pieces are also shaped like cones.

Although not much is known about the new Kia K4, the company is advertising it as a compact car. If that’s the case, it does the same thing as the Kia Forte, which is already on the market. Still, we think Kia will use the K4 built for the US market to replace the small Kia Rio and Forte, which will no longer be made after the 2023 model year.

It’s not clear what kind of engine the Kia K4 has, but based on the company’s history of putting “EV” in the model name, it probably isn’t electric. We would like to learn more about the new car when it is shown off on Thursday.
