The Mercedes-Benz C111 was an idea from the 1970s that looked like something from the future but was never made. The new Mercedes-Benz Vision One-Eleven Concept, an avant-garde take on one of the brand’s most luxurious designs, was based on that custom car. The Vision One-Eleven is better than the C111 model in many ways. The C111 was used to try a lot of new technologies, like diesel and rotary engines, as well as new ways of making suspensions. In line with this, Vision One-Eleven has cutting-edge axial flux motor technology, which the company thinks will become standard in future EVs. No one knows the exact power numbers of the motor, which were made by a specialised motor company called YASA. But it is said to have power “similar to that of a motorsport from a much smaller package.” For the same amount of energy, the new motor weighs one-third less and takes up one-third less room than traditional motors. It is linked to a pack of circular cells that are cooled by liquid and use the chemistry of Formula 1 cells. Visually, the idea looks a lot like the C111. The design is pretty crazy, with a giant bubble for the driver’s seat and a front air dam that floats over the road. The second one has a screen showing text or digital headlights with pixels. The front end also has two air vents that swoop up toward the windshield, like the C111. The lip and side skirts, on the other hand, look like those on Time Attack Cars. Overall, the bright orange and black color scheme works well. The tone was chosen because it was flashy and similar to the original color of the C111. Don’t worry about the gullwing doors; Mercedes remembered them. On the inside, Mercedes got all the classic concept car tropes right. It looks like it came straight out of The Fifth Element. It has a retro-futuristic LED matrix screen and bright white and orange highlights. For turning, a leather-wrapped yoke has enough parts to look like a high-end F1 steering wheel. The seats are made of silver leather that looks like it came from a sci-fi movie. When needed, the cabin could be changed into a race mode with more upright seats, but the goal of the design was to make it feel like a lounge. The system looks and feels like something from the past. The large LED matrix pixels were picked to make the information on the screen look bold and eye-catching. But a classic high-resolution panel is next to the steering wheel for everyday use. Mercedes has also made a virtual reality (AR) display of the concept car before it is shown to the public. The driver may see a digital interface that goes beyond the screen while sitting in the AR display and wearing a Magic Leap 2 headset. Instead, the headset makes the whole inside of the car a part of the user experience. It can also be used in interesting and valuable ways, like making the driver’s field of view bigger by giving directions that blend in with the environment. Contextual cues can also be shown around interface components like buttons and switches. The Vision One-Eleven is one of those crazy neo-futuristic ideas that let creators let their imaginations run wild. We expect only some parts of the idea to be carried out precisely as written here. Mercedes-Benz will use what it has learned to make better designs in the future, especially ones that use new technology better.
