The newest generation debuted at the 2019 Shanghai auto show, giving us our first look at what to expect from the 2020 Sentra, which will be sold in North America. The Nissan Sylphy, sold in China, has always been the car that came before the Nissan Sentra. The Sentra for the American market was last updated a long time ago. Nissan China just showed off the new Sylphy, which has an updated infotainment screen that will also be in the 2024 Sentra. The Nissan Sentra has been made for six years, so it’s time to change. Reports say the upgrade would include a better infotainment screen and a new interior the following year. We are taking clues from the Nissan Sylphy for the Chinese market to predict changes to the Sentra. When it first came out in Shanghai in 2019, the Sylphy worked, and we expect it to work just as well now. In 2019, the Sylphy and the Sentra were getting ready for a new generation. Currently, the Sentra only needs a minor upgrade. At the bottom, a 12.3-inch HD infotainment screen and what looked like a row of haptic control buttons were shown. The current Sentra has 7.0- and 8.0-inch displays, but the new one is much bigger. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto aren’t wireless in the current Sentra, but we’re sure Nissan will make them so when they add the bigger screen. Pictures from Sylphy show that the inside will also be updated. The usual grab-handle shifter on the gearbox tunnel has been replaced with a low-profile shifter used to change gears. The center armrest, the front air conditioning vents, and the front doors now have soft lighting inside. The changes are small, but since the model for 2023 was the same as the model for the year before, any improvement is welcome.
