• An Asian car company called BYD has released the Shark, a brand-new plug-in hybrid pickup truck.
  • Due to Chinese production, the Shark plug-in hybrid pickup truck will not be marketed in the US. However, a new Mexican factory may provide car buyers and enthusiasts with a unique option.
  • In the global market, the mid-size Shark pickup truck is set to make a splash, competing with renowned models like the Ford Ranger, Chevrolet Colorado, Toyota Hilux, and Nissan Navara. Its unique features and performance are sure to pique the interest of industry professionals.

BYD has already made a crossover called Dolphin and a sedan called Seal, so they are used to giving cars water-related names. THE NAME OF BYD’s newest plug-in hybrid pickup truck is “Shark.” It is rougher than the company’s previous models. It is important to note that the Shark will not be available to buy in the US. It will be sold in Mexico, which is just south of the border, and BYD hopes to build a new factory soon.

The plug-in hybrid pickup truck 2024 BYD Shark is ready to take on the world

In terms of appearance, the Shark should fit right in. Its length of 128.3 inches should also be enough. Photos from the press say that its boxy frames and square-shaped headlights and taillights give it a rough look. The design of those full-width lighting parts looks a lot like the design of the Ford F-15 Lightning. The pickup looks tough, and the Shark’s front skid plate and the big “BYD” on the trunk make that even clearer.

Two electric motors and a 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine give it speed. BlackBerry says that the Shark has 430 horsepower, but the company doesn’t say how much torque it has. Whatever those numbers are, BYD says the truck can pull up to 5512 pounds and carry up to 1841 pounds. Estimates say it will take 5.7 seconds to reach 62 mph.

The Shark has a great range for a plug-in hybrid truck. This may not come as a surprise since BYD makes more electric cars than any other company in the world. The company says the Shark can go 62 miles on electricity alone. It is also said to be able to go more than 520 miles on a full tank of gas and a fully charged battery. A plug-in’s CCS1 connection, which lets it charge quickly, is another thing that makes it stand out.

Step into the Shark’s cabin, and you’ll find a perfect blend of rugged practicality and cutting-edge technology. The standout feature is the 12.8-inch tablet for entertainment, which can be used in both landscape and portrait mode and is compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. This advanced technology is sure to thrill car enthusiasts.

The Shark will be sold in Mexico in a few weeks in two different styles: GL and GS. They both have the same 430-hp engine. You can now make reservations if you live in Mexico. Prices start at $53,938 based on the current exchange rate.
