• The most potent version of the big luxury SUV is the 2024 Porsche Cayenne Turbo E-Hybrid.
  • The Porsche Cayenne Turbo E-Hybrid has a power output of 729 horsepower and a torque output of 700 pound-feet.
  • Porsche says the Cayenne plug-in hybrid can go from 0 to 60 mph in 3.5 seconds and go as fast as 183 mph.

Even though Porsche purists haven’t recently started a campaign against the Cayenne SUV, we suggest that anyone who doesn’t like it take a drive in the 2024 Cayenne Turbo E-Hybrid, the most powerful model available.

The 729-HP is a rocket

With the new plug-in hybrid engine, Porsche has made the Cayenne Turbo E-Hybrid, which was already a rocket ship for the road, even better. The first part of the engine is the 591-horsepower, 4.0-liter V-8 with twin turbochargers. The hybrid system has also been improved, and the electric motor now has 174 horsepower instead of the 134 horsepower it had in the Turbo S E-Hybrid. When all of the parts of the new system work together, they make 729 horsepower and 700 lb-ft of torque.

A bigger battery that charges faster

The battery in the new Turbo E-Hybrid is almost twice as big as the one in the old one. It went from 14.1 kWh to 25.9 kWh. Porsche says that the larger battery size makes the range of pure electric cars longer. Even though it didn’t say so, the electric-only range of the last model was 20 miles, so we expect the new model to be closer to 30 miles. Along with the bigger battery, the new 11.0-kW internal charger cuts the stated charging time for the upgraded model from three hours to two and a half.

Porsche says you can already order the 2024 Cayenne Turbo E-Hybrid, and the first cars should be at American stores in the second quarter of 2019. The SUV and Coupe body styles are costly. The starting price for the SUV is $148,550, and the starting price for the Coupe is $153,050.
