The Arcadia Droptail is Rolls-Royce’s third open-top roadster. Greek legend says that Arcadia is “Heaven on Earth,” and the beautiful details on the new two-seater pay tribute to that idea. Rolls-Royce says that the wood parts of the Arcadia took 8,000 hours to make and that the most detailed clock face the company has ever made took five months. We can’t even begin to imagine what it must be like to be very rich. We don’t need to think outside the box with the Arcadia Droptail, Rolls-Royce’s newest coachbuilt car. Many people think that millions of dollars can’t buy happiness, but they can buy a unique work of art, like the beautiful two-seat racer that was just released. The third version of the tiny Droptail called the Arcadia, was made just for a mystery buyer and paid for by Rolls’ Coachbuild company. The consumer had full power over the process of curation, which was said to take four years. The handmade convertible is named after a place in Greek mythology that is called “Heaven on Earth.” The theme of the Arcadia Droptail, which fit the tastes of its wealthy customers, came from the places they liked to visit around the world, like Singapore’s tropical sky gardens or Britain’s “Biomimetic” style of architecture. Rolls-Royce doesn’t build this author a special Droptail since no one wants to see a beautiful car that looks like it belongs in South Florida or Las Vegas. One of the best things about the Arcadia is that the inside and back deck are both made of wood. Rolls says that there are 233 pieces of Santos Straight Grain wood. A protection lacquer had to be made so that it would stay safe for the whole car. It is said that the whole process took 8,000 hours. But the work was well worth it because it looks great with the Arcadia’s pretty white paint, which has glass and aluminum bits in it. Rolls-Royce says that the Arcadia’s lower parts are painted a unique silver color instead of being made of fully or partially visible carbon fiber like the La Rose Noire and the Amethyst’s lower parts. Other parts of the outside, like the 22-inch wheels and grille surround, look shiny. Tan and white leather covers the inside of the Arcadia. Rolls also says that the clock face it holds is the most difficult thing the company has ever made. The process is said to have taken five months after two years of work. The face of the clock is made of raw metal and has a geometric guilloché pattern with 119 sides. Rolls doesn’t say what kind of engine the Arcadia has or how much it costs, but it’s a 6.7-liter V-12 with 593 horsepower and that it will cost around $30 million. No matter what, everyone who sees the newest Droptail will be shocked.
