Fans are upset that an accurate Subaru BRZ STI has never been made. Subaru has yet to make one soon, at least not officially. However, people in Italy can buy something that looks like one. But the Subaru BRZ Touge Edition has no mechanical improvements that come with the BRZ STI badge. It just looks like a BRZ STI.

The BRZ Touge Edition looks a lot like the STI. It has blue paint, a lower front lip, a rear spoiler, side skirts, and gold 18-inch O.Z. Ultraleggera wheels. 18-inch dark gray wheels are another option. These wheels are more prominent and come with Yokohama BluEarth Winter tires instead of the O.Z.’s Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires. But technically, it’s the same as any other BRZ, so its STI DNA is only from that one. It still has the same 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine with 228 hp and 182 lb-ft of torque, a limited-slip differential, and a six-speed manual gearbox.

Besides the Touge Edition, other limited-edition sales have been in the past few months. Subaru’s BRZ tS, which has better brakes and handling, was released in the U.S. The BRZ tS doesn’t have the striking looks of the Touge Edition, but it does have some excellent new features. Subaru just released the BRZ STI Sport, which can only be bought in Japan. It has better brakes and handling than the previous model.

Surprisingly, the BRZ Touge Edition costs the most of the three new unique versions. There will only be 60 made, each costing Italians more than €49,500 ($52,200). The BRZ STI Sport costs about $25,370, and the BRZ tS should be around $30,000. This seems like a very high price. But because the Touge is a limited-edition model and the Subaru Italy website doesn’t have a regular BRZ for sale, buyers may see the Touge Edition as a one-of-a-kind chance to buy one of the most exciting rear-drive cars on the market, despite the high price.
