2024 Lexus GX Overtrail. We are emphasising the unique features of this off-road car that are made possible by technological advances. The GX is scheduled to arrive in the US at the beginning of 2024. Toyota and Lexus are both fully committed to the off-road lifestyle. In addition to the challenging TRD versions, new trims are starting to focus on the outside look and add some things to make them more capable than standard versions. Toyota’s Tacoma Trailhunter proved that, and now it’s the turn of the Lexus GX Overtrail. For the 2024 model year, Lexus has added the Overtrail and Overtrail+ options based on the overland style. This is part of a bigger plan to change the GX series. The four two-tone paint choices with a primary colour and a black roof show that the Overtrail trims put a lot of thought into how they look. Black fender flares, an aluminium skid plate, and odd 18-inch wheels with 33-inch all-terrain tires are some of the changes on the outside. The interior of the GX Overtrail combines one of two interior designs with olive-green suede details, just like the exterior focuses on certain earth tones to drive home the “get out into nature” idea. The normal GX can fit up to seven people, but the Overtrail can only fit five. Even though the Overtrail has a different way of seating, it has many of the same features as the other types. A 3.4-liter twin-turbo V-6 engine with ten automatic gears and four-wheel drive gives the car its power. The machine has the GX standard 349 horsepower and 479 pound-feet of torque. The Overtrail can pull up to 8,000 pounds, the same as the Premium and Premium+ classes. A hybrid engine is planned for the GX, but it’s unclear if the Overtrail will also get one. The GX Overtrail will have Lexus’ Electronic-Kinetic Dynamic Suspension System (E-KDSS) to go off-road. In all of its forms, KDSS makes it possible to put larger stabilizer bars on an off-road vehicle than would usually be possible. The system can distinguish between articulation off-road, where big anti-roll bars or any bars are dangerous, and articulation on-road, where big anti-roll bars improve handling. While the new system uses hydraulics to compare the front and back, the old way turned off (or did not turn off) the anti-roll bars. A rear differential that can be locked electronically comes standard on all Overtrail models. The Overtrail has the same 26-degree approach angle as the rest of the line, so the fact that it looks different doesn’t change how well it works. Breakout is 24 degrees, which is one degree higher than the pack. Departure is in the middle of the group between the cuts. In its announcement, Lexus said that the Overtrail and Overtrail+ will be at the top of the GX line. This suggests they will be expensive, even though the prices remain unknown.
