Tesla has said that it will start selling a Track package in June. This means the Model S Plaid can now go up to 200 mph. The kit comes with new 20-inch wheels made of metal, Goodyear Eagle F1 Supercar 3R tires, and carbon-ceramic brakes. The extras cost $20,000, but you can order the carbon-ceramic brakes separately. Tesla is finally releasing the long-awaited Track package for the Model S Plaid, which will bring out the full performance potential of the electric car. During tests by Car and Driver in 2021, the Tesla Model S Plaid went from 0 to 60 mph in just 2.1 seconds. However, it couldn’t reach its top speed of 200 mph because the brakes weren’t strong enough. Last year, a Track mode was added, which made it possible to change the stability control and improve the cooling, among other improvements. This year, the brakes were adjusted. Since the Plaid came out in 2021, Tesla had said it would have a carbon-ceramic brake kit ready by last summer. But no one knows if Tesla ever put the more strong brakes on any of their cars. Four- and six-piston forged rear brakes with high-performance pads have been added to finish the change. These are attached to the front and back carbon-silicon carbide wheels that are 16.1 inches in diameter. Tesla says you can buy the carbon-ceramic brake kit separately from the rest of the Track pack, which also comes with “track-ready” brake fluid. The kit comes with new wheels and tires as well as brakes. Tesla’s new “Zero-G” metal forged wheels come with Goodyear Eagle F1 Supercar 3R tires that are 285/35R20 in the front and 305/30R20 in the back. The new brakes and the 21-inch “Arachnid” wheels will work, but the 19-inch “Tempest” wheels will not. The price range for a Tesla is “$15,000-$20,000.” For $20,000, you get the whole Track package, including wheels and tires; for $15,000, you only get the carbon-ceramic brake kit. On the other hand, this needs to be clarified from what Tesla has said. The Model S Plaid Tracked will be released in June 2023 and will work with Plaid cars made in 2021 or later.
