Today, Toyota said that the 2024 Tacoma will have a six-speed manual drive. Even though no other information was given, it will be a tweaked version of the six-speed stick shift on the old model. The 2024 Tacoma will likely be shown for the first time in the coming months. Toyota kept teasing about the future 2024 Tacoma in their marketing today. The Japanese carmaker hasn’t said when the next-generation mid-size pickup will come out, but the teaser showed that the 2019 Tacoma will still have a manual transmission, making fans happy. The picture only shows the three pedals in the footwell of the 2024 Tacoma. Toyota didn’t give any more details, but it did say that the row-it-yourself drive will have six forward gears. We’re glad Toyota still plans to keep the manual transmission, even though we expect it to be an improved version of the six-speed stick shift in the current Tacoma rather than a completely new unit. We already know a few things about Tacoma, which will come out this summer. In April, Toyota showed an iForce Max badge on the tailgate of a hard-core off-road TRD Pro model. This suggested that Tacoma would get a hybrid engine like its bigger brother, the Tundra. Toyota also said a new trim called Trailhunter will be added to the Tacoma. At the 2022 SEMA show, a Tundra was used to hint at the name of this trim. The Tacoma Trailhunter teaser picture shows an ARB rear bumper and a big tow hook attached to the frame. This indicates that the vehicle will be focused on overlanding. A new image of the TRD Pro’s rear wheel shows that it will have rear disc brakes for the first time. Toyota also gave hints about the TRD Pro’s rough suspension, which would use a Fox QS3 coil-over and keep the red spring typical of the TRD Pro. In the coming months, we’ll learn more about the whole thing.
