Volkswagen has said a new limited-edition Golf R hot hatch will be available in Germany. It will only be made in 333 units, with a unique colour and many regular features. The 333 costs nearly twice as much as a regular Golf R in the U.S. It costs €76,410, more than $82,000. In the United States, the MSRP does not include taxes. We have noted that German prices include VAT (Value-made Tax). How far can a Volkswagen Golf, a small car, go? V.W.’s new Golf R is a fast car only sold in Germany. It pushes the limits. The Golf R 333 Limited Edition is a limited-edition car that costs €76,410 (about $82,000 at the current exchange rate). For a V.W. Golf, yes. What do you get for that massive amount of money? One benefit is that only 333 of these one-of-a-kind cars will be made by V.W. Also, the Lime Yellow glossy paint on the outside of the 333 attracts much attention on the street. It also has 333 stickers going down the sides, a black roof, and 19-inch black wheels. A serialised number badge on the inside of each car in the line lets you know which car is which. The Golf R 333 has a turbocharged 2.0-liter inline-four engine that makes 329 horsepower, 14 more than the version sold in the U.S. The bike has a titanium Akrapovic silencer and semi-slick tires that grip well. V.W. says that the top speed has been increased to 168 miles per hour. Compared to models sold in other countries, the Golf R sold in the U.S. is, without a doubt, a steal. The base price of our car is $45,835, while the base price of the German type is $58,905. Of course, you can’t compare apples to apples because German prices include taxes, and U.S. prices don’t. But the cost of the 333 is still a surprise. Tomorrow, June 2, golf fans in Germany can start placing orders for this one-of-a-kind Golf R, and deliveries will begin in October. We’re still determining who will pay this much for this car, but we think V.W. only needs to find 333 people.
