• EPA range estimates are available for the second version of VinFast’s three-row VF9 SUV.
  • The range of the VF9 Eco is about 330 miles, while the content of the Plus is about 291 miles.
  • Before taxes at the destination, the Eco starts at $83K, and the Plus starts at $91K. Both are due to arrive in the fourth quarter of this year.

VinFast is thriving. The Vietnamese car company sent the first 45 VF8 SUVs to customers in California in March. Last week, VinFast merged with a special-purpose acquisition business, which made it possible for the company to be listed on the NASDAQ. Since then, the value of its shares has gone up a lot. They were worth more than Ford and General Motors put together at the time of writing. As it prepares to bring its second model to the US market, VinFast has provided official EPA range estimates for the VF9 SUV.

VinFast’s VF9 is expected to go between

The range of the VinFast VF9 Eco will be 330 miles, while the content of the VinFast VF9 Plus will be 291 miles. At first, the company said the VF9 would come with two different battery sizes: Standard and Enhanced Range packs. VinFast says it beat its predictions, so the data is for the Standard Range. It didn’t say which battery caused the numbers that the EPA came up with.

Initial estimates for the Enhanced Range version ranged from 360 to 369 miles, and there is only one battery choice on VinFast’s consumer website right now. Surprisingly, the 123.0 kWh pack on the customer site is not the same as the Enhanced Range battery on the official press site. Car and Driver called VinFast to determine which battery pack gave these range predictions. If we hear back, we will add something to this story.

How much the VF9 cost?

VinFast has updated the prices for the VF9 and said that the Eco will start at $83,000, and the Plus will start at $91,000. These prices are before destination taxes. It is similar to the three-row Rivian R1S, which can go 260 or 352 miles on a single charge, based on the battery pack, and costs about $6,000 more than the prices originally announced for both car versions. The much more expensive 2025 Cadillac Escalade IQ will compete with the much cheaper three-row Kia EV9, which should go up to 300 miles and is aiming for 450 miles.

The VF9 has two electric motors that are powered by a battery. Together, the two motors make 402 horsepower and 457 pound-feet of torque. VinFast says the VF9 can hit 60 mph in 6.5 seconds and charge from 10% to 70% with a DC fast charger in 35 minutes. The VF9 is already being shipped in Vietnam, and VinFast plans to start selling the three-row EV to customers in North America in the fourth quarter of this year.
