• After teasing it for a while, Mitsubishi showed off the D:X concept van last month.
  • With wraparound glass, panoramic seats for up to six people, and a plug-in hybrid engine, this small MPV packs a lot of power.
  • Because it has electric four-wheel drive, the D:X idea brings the popular Delica van into the future of electric vehicles.

On the other side, there is always greener grass. The other half is on the other side of the Pacific Ocean from us, which is a shame. This is because Mitsubishi finally showed off the new D:X concept van after publishing a preview earlier this month. The person who came up with the idea says that the new idea is “meant to hint at the Delica of the future.”

There are hints of Delica's future in the Mitsubishi D:X concept

Coming soon Delica

The design was only partially shown in a teaser earlier this month, which mostly showed a back three-quarters picture covered in dust. The cute idea can now be seen in all its chunky beauty. Wraparound glass from the windshield to the D-pillar and a front-mounted camera that makes the hood almost “see-through” make the outside view great. The second screen, which sticks out from the bottom of the windshield, shows things like the front tires’ turn position and whether the vehicle is on or off-road.

The D:X mix minivan or MPV features like sliding doors and seating for six people with off-roader features like all-wheel drive, a higher suspension, and low front and back overhangs. The D:X has two rows of two seats each, and the seats can be moved and tilted for better views. For some off-road performance, side step protectors and front and back skid plates should keep you safe.

Without Giving More Details

Mitsubishi didn’t say anything else about the engine of the D:X; they only said that it has an electric four-wheel drive system and a plug-in hybrid motor. The company that made the car also said it could be used in mixed mode for longer trips or electric mode for shorter daily trips.

Mitsubishi doesn’t have many cars in North America right now, and the Delica van that this design suggests isn’t available either. No matter how hard we try, Mitsu will not sell the updated model in the US when it comes out in production. What a sad story.
