• More information is now available about Kia’s 2025 K4 compact car.
  • For the base model, there is a 2.0-liter inline-four engine. For the GT-Line Turbo, there is a 1.6-liter inline-four engine with a turbocharger.
  • Around the world, it will be out in the second half of 2024.

After releasing the first pictures of the aggressively styled 2025 Kia K4 small sedan, Kia is now giving out a lot more details about the car that will replace the Forte. The new K4 has some new features, is a little bigger than the old one, and mostly uses powertrains from the old model. America will get it later this year. It will come in five trim levels: LX, LXS, EX, GT-Line, and GT-Line Turbo.

There is more room and more features in the 2025 Kia K4 Sedan than in the Forte

The base model has the same 2.0-liter inline-four engine as the Forte. It has 147 horsepower and a continuously variable automatic gearbox. The GT-Line Turbo and the previous Forte GT both have a 1.6-liter turbocharged inline-four engine, but the K4 model makes big changes to this setup. It used to make 211 horsepower, but now it only makes 190. A standard eight-speed torque-converter automatic transmission replaces the six-speed manual and seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmissions in the sedan. This is similar to the changes made to the powertrain for the 2024 Seltos crossover.

The K4 is larger and wider than the Forte. Its dimensions are 185.4 by 72.8 inches, which is more than three inches longer and two inches wider than the Forte. Kia says it has more space in the back than the Forte, even though the trunk is a little smaller than before. These pictures show the US-spec car with the GT-Line option, which comes with 18-inch wheels and other trim that looks powerful. In the same way that the Forte had a multilink rear suspension on the GT and a torsion-beam rear suspension on the base models, Kia saves the more complicated design for the K4’s GT-Line models.

Inside the better trims, there are a lot of screens. A smaller 5.0-inch screen controls the climate, and there is a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster and a 12.3-inch touchscreen for entertainment in the middle. Even the cheapest model comes with built-in Bluetooth smartphone mirroring. There are also several driver-assistance systems, a Harman Kardon sound system, digital keys that let you start the car with your phone, and front seats that can be heated and cooled.

Car company Kia says that the K4 will be sold in the US in the second half of the year. Since the Forte starts at $21,145, we think the K4 will start a little higher.
