The latest GMC Terrain model has been slowly taken off the market since 2018. As of the first half of this year, the Terrain is still GMC’s most famous SUV, even though it will get a facelift in 2022 instead of now. GMC is trying to get people to buy a new car as the next version of its base SUV.

The 2025 GMC Terrain retains a familiar exterior design that you’ll immediately recognize. The C-shaped LED running lights up front and the up-knuckle in the beltline at the C-pillar are reminiscent of the previous model, as well as the Chevrolet Equinox. The front fascia, however, has undergone a significant transformation, boasting more curves and sharper lines, and a larger rectangular grille.

The back has been changed to have sharper lines coming from a lower fascia with lights that are angled vertically. The Terrain’s narrow rear quarter windows have been swapped out for bigger glass panes, and the C-shaped taillights are now smaller overall. There is also a new two-tone roof choice that goes well with the floating roof style made by the changed C-pillar arrangement.

Step inside the 2025 GMC Terrain and you’ll be greeted by a host of technological advancements. The 11-inch digital instrument panel and the 15-inch digital screen, set up in portrait mode, are the focal points of a significant technological upgrade. These features, including Google Assistant and fifteen other driver-assist technologies, come as standard across the entire Terrain line, making it the most feature-rich model in the range. Other notable features include a motorized liftgate, rain-sensing wipers, eight exterior cameras, and a 5G hotspot connection.

The 2025 Terrain maintains its reliable performance. It is powered by a 1.5-liter four-cylinder turbocharged engine, delivering 175 horsepower and 203 pound-feet of torque. The automatic gearbox with eight speeds ensures a smooth driving experience, consistent with the previous Terrain model. GMC has confirmed that all 2025 Terrain models will come with all-wheel drive, with a front-wheel drive option set to be released later.

Aside than that, we still don’t know much about the new terrain. The frame looks a little taller and wider, but GMC hasn’t said how big it is or if it’s changed in any other way. The base Elevation trim will replace the SLE and SLT in late 2024 and be sold in showrooms. When they come out as 2026 models the following year, the AT4 and Denali will have more features, more comfort, and, in the case of the AT4, more off-road skills.

Before the Terrain goes on sale, the price is expected to be made public. The base price might be a lot higher than Terrain’s current $30,095 starting price since it comes with more technology and all-wheel drive, as usual.
