• What Tesla says is that the Cybertruck all-wheel drive can go about 340 miles on a full charge.
  • The company did not say how much power the battery had, though.
  • But we have a good idea of how big the pack is based on previous tests and the truck’s stated capacity of 42.9 kWh over a 100-mile drive.

Along with the delivery of its first batch of 2024 Cybertrucks, Tesla recently shared more details about its battery-electric pickup truck, which can pull up to 11,000 pounds and have up to 845 horsepower.

This is what the Tesla Cybertruck's battery can hold, based on our calculations

But the company that made the truck should have included one thing on the specs sheet: the battery capacity. Luckily, our technical staff is very good at figuring out hard math problems and organizing a lot of information. Our team of number crunchers figured out how much power the multi-motor model’s battery pack could hold after learning that Tesla’s mid-level 600-hp Cybertruck all-wheel drive can go about 340 miles on a full charge while using 42.9 kWh of electricity every 100 miles.

However, some assumptions were made in order to come up with this number. It’s important to note that we had to assume Tesla used the EPA’s methods to get these numbers. Based on that assumption, we used data from our 2020 Tesla Model Y Performance test to confirm our estimate.

On the whiteboard in the office, our editors wrote numbers and formulas, erased them, and then wrote more. On top of their tired but determined faces is a montage of numbers, symbols, and equations. Our editors thought about it for a while and came to this conclusion: the Cybertruck all-wheel drive’s net battery capacity is between 125.0 and 130.0 kWh. You do want a single number, though, right? Let’s use 127.5 kWh or 128.0 kWh if you like working with whole numbers.

Tesla has given us information about how efficient the Cybertruck all-wheel drive model is. Still, we don’t think the Cybertruck Cyberbeast, which has 845 horsepower, uses the same battery pack to get its 320-mile range.

If you think the range estimates are too low, don’t worry about it. Tesla has a range extender that can be added to the Cybertruck by putting in extra batteries in the bed of the truck. Tesla says that if you choose this option, the Cyberbeast and Cybertruck all-wheel drives can go 440 and 470 miles farther, respectively. We and the company still need to do the math to figure out how much the range extender can do.
