One of the things I enjoy most about Grand Theft Auto is checking out the “fake” cars and trying to guess which real-life models they’re based on. For example, the Mercedes-Benz W123 is clearly made for the formal Admiral. It happens the other way around sometimes: There is a less well-known Superlite SL-C sports car for sale right now. It looks like something you’d get after finishing a Grand Theft Auto task. The SL-C is something that Superlite calls “the perfect supercar,” and it looks like its experts put a lot of work into it. Since it’s a kit car that can be built with different engines, you can change how much power it has to suit your needs. It was also made so that it would be simple to make at home. The fiberglass body, aluminum suspension, aluminum chassis, and mid-engined design of this car put 46% of its weight in the front and 54% in the back. The exact percentage changes based on the engine that is installed in the back. But what about the clothes? It has come from the design team at Rockstar Games, which makes sense since it’s pretty standard. It would look like a cross between a Maserati MC12 and a concept from the 24 Hours of Le Mans. With a copper-colored cover, the one on Bring a Trailer looks even more like GTA. The background looks great. It makes the main picture of the page look like a screenshot from a game. I see myself pulling the SL-C into the parking lot and going into the old RV behind it to get a secret item before I drive to the safe house. I’m going to forgive Superlite. Because it was small and had few resources, handling received a lot more attention than style. Also, a streamlined supercar with an engine in the middle can only be made in 100 different shapes, which is why many race cars look the same. If nothing else, there is a very small chance of finding two SL-Cs that are exactly the same. Since it’s a kit car, it’s up to you in the end. The Bring a Trailer has a 6.0-liter LS V8 engine and a six-speed manual gearbox from a 996-generation 911 GT3. These two must work well together. Bring a Trailer says that the drivetrain used to be 100% Porsche. The 3.6-liter flat-six engine from the same 911 drove this SL-C until a few years ago. The V8 has been tuned, and Superlite says it weighs 2,400 pounds, so it must be a lot of fun to drive. The bid is $17,000, and there are only five days left in the sale. In September 2017, this very same car, which still had a Porsche engine, sold for $68,000. A 7.0-liter LS7 V8 engine SL-C was just sold on Bring a Trailer for $63,000.
