• TWR unveiled the Supercat, which is based on a Jaguar XJS and has a tough carbon-fiber body.
  • Under the hood is a supercharged V-12 engine that produces about 600 horsepower and drives the rear wheels through a six-speed manual gear.
  • Only a limited number of 88 TWR Supercat Jaguars will be produced, adding to its exclusivity. The starting price for this rare gem is approximately $282,000.

Tom Walkinshaw Racing, one of the most well-known names in British racing, made the Jaguar racers that won Le Mans in 1988 and 1990. In the early 1990s, it also made the supercars XJ220 and XJR-15 that could be driven on the road. The green beast you see here is the first car from the new TWR. It’s a V-12-powered Jaguar XJS restaurant called the Supercat. The company is now run by Tom’s son Fergus Walkinshaw.

This RWD TWR Supercat Jaguar is restored, Manual transmission and supercharged V-12 engine

TWR completely redesigned the beautiful, long hood of the XJS. The car’s unique roofline and proportions were kept, but it was turned into a powerful race car ready for the track. The whole body is made of carbon fiber, and it has vents on the hood, wheel arches that are very curved out, and a front splitter that looks like a Katana. The motorsport-inspired look is finished off with aerodisc wheels and an exhaust pipe that exits on the side. At the back, there is a big diffuser and a ducktail bumper that sticks out.

The Supercat’s supercharged V-12 engine should make around 600 horsepower. TWR has yet to say how big the size is, but we’re guessing it’s huge. This engine is even more appealing because it comes with a six-speed manual drive that only sends power to the back wheels. TWR says that the people who work on its projects have done work for McLaren, Ferrari, Porsche, Williams, Mercedes F1, and Renault F1.
No more will be made because 88 were won in the 1988 24 Hours of Le Mans. The very first units should be sent out in the fourth quarter of this year. TWR will offer a high level of customization for a starting price of about $282,000. The Supercat will be sold in the United States and other important foreign markets.

TWR says it will show off the cabin when the Supercat makes its “dynamic debut” this summer, which looks like it will happen at the Goodwood Festival of Speed. The Supercat is also called the “first of a new generation of cars,” which suggests that even more ridiculous TWRs are on the way. We want to know what else the crazy guys at TWR have planned.
