• Today, Ford said it would make more popular models and four times as many F-150 Lightnings this year as last.
  • The electric F-150 will be made again on March 13, after being stopped for a few weeks because of a problem with the batteries that has now been fixed.
  • In addition to the Transit vans, Ford is increasing production of the Bronco Sport SUV, the Maverick pickup, and the Mustang Mach-E EV, all popular vehicles.

Ford’s goal to sell as many cars as possible this year doesn’t come as a surprise. To do this, the company said today that it plans to make many popular models. The F-150 Lightning is the most well-known model, and Ford thinks it will make three times as many of them this year as it did last year.

The plans come after Lighting’s production was stopped for a long time because of a battery problem. Ford says that once the issue is fixed, the show will start again on March 13. The company’s goal is to resume the annual production of 150,000 flashes of Lightning before the end of the year. Ford said that it sold 15,617 electric F-150s in 2022.

The Lightning is, of course, just one of the Ford cars that are said to be popular. The Maverick pickup truck and the small Bronco Sport SUV will also be made in more significant numbers. The company plans to make more than 80,000 more units in 2023 to meet demand in both North and South America.

Ford said earlier this year that the number of Mustang Mach-Es they make would increase by about 67 percent, from 78,000 in 2018 to 130,000 in 2023. The company said that the Mach-E will be made nearly twice as fast per hour after improvements are made to the factory today. People say that this is being planned. Ford said that by the end of this year, it wants to build 210K cars per year.

The company plans to make 38,000 more of these each year. In addition, Ford said it would hire more people in April at the Kansas City assembly plant where the Transit van and its electric version are made.

Ford didn’t have any specific plans to make more of its other popular models, but the company said it was looking into ways to make more gas-powered and hybrid F-150s at its Dearborn, Michigan plant. Ford is also preparing to release new or improved versions of the Escape, Mustang, Ranger, and Super Duty trucks.

Ford may have said something other than it would make more Broncos because the new Ranger, which will be made on the same line as the full-size Bronco, is coming out.
