Toyota is either keeping a lot of information to itself or ignoring all the signs that it should make a small pickup truck. One of the most famous cars in America right now is the fun-sized Ford Maverick. Ford can’t make them fast enough, which shows how popular small pickup trucks are. Automotive News says that Toyota sellers are also interested in a car that could compete with the Maverick.

The head of Toyota’s National Dealer Council, Steve Gates, says, “The quality small truck is in Toyota’s DNA.” Gates oversees several businesses, including three Toyota stores and one Ford dealership. Gates thinks the desire for the car has helped sales of the Ranger or F-150, even though there are no more Mavericks to sell. Gates believes a small pickup truck from Toyota would sell well and not take away from the company’s other trucks.

People who owned older Toyota cars before they had names say that they always wanted another small Toyota truck. Without hurting sales of Tacoma and Tundra, the person thinks the volume potential is enormous.

Even Dave Christ oversees Toyota in North America and said that Toyota is watching the Maverick. He told Auto News that we are keeping a close eye on Maverick. Christ also says that a smaller car that uses less gas would help Toyota meet pollution rules. Is there any chance of that? I am certain that there is a market because Maverick was so successful.

Toyota knows there is a market for small cars and that it could suit the company’s brand. So, why has it yet to be understood that such a truck is being made or thought about? Since the Corolla Cross is made in Alabama, Toyota can drive a car out of it. Everyone in the country, except for Toyota, wants a Toyota truck that can compete with Mavericks.
