• Volkswagen has said the electric VW ID Buzz van will be available in the US in June.
  • It will come with seven seats, and the wheelbase will be extended.
  • We expect it to come out for the 2024 model year, which means it could go on sale later this year or early next year.

The electric identification of Volkswagen. The Buzz van, a new version of the Microbus, is already on sale in Europe, and we finally know when it will come to the US. Volkswagen says that the long-wheelbase version of the Buzz will be shown for the first time in June and go on sale in the US for the 2024 model year. Also, our hidden cameras caught an LWB van prototype testing in cold weather, which gave us our first look at this unique design.

The difference between the short-wheelbase European model and the long-wheelbase US model is the length of the rear sliding doors. From the outside, the two look like they are the same. The European version has two rows of chairs, but the American version will have three rows and should be able to seat seven people. We hope to see fun color choices for the interior in our market, but we also expect to see some other interior trim options.

Volkswagen also told us that the giant Buzz that will be sold in the US would have a bigger battery pack than the one sold elsewhere, which is 77.0 kWh. A dual-motor all-wheel-drive option with the same 295 horsepower as the ID.4 SUV’s AWD option will be an upgrade. The base model will have a single electric motor in the back, making 201 horsepower.

Around the 2024 ID, more information will be shared. Buzz will be released in the United States for the first time in June, with prices, range predictions, and a more specific release date.
