The Volkswagen ID for the U.S. market has been a long time coming. Buzz has a longer length, which makes room for a third row and gives it seven seats. It will come with a dual-motor, all-wheel-drive system with 330 hp or a single-motor, rear-wheel-drive plan with 282 hp. Bright colours inside and out take you back to the 1960s but with all the latest technology and a modern twist. Hippy or not, part of the fringe is to miss Volkswagen’s Type 2 Microbus. In 2025, Buzz users will try to relive their time in Haight-Ashbury in the 1960s, or at least their dreams. The Volkswagen people mover is a cultural icon representing a way of life that includes family road trips, playing music around a beach bonfire, and quietly protesting against the status quo. It is even more attractive now with an electric motor and several comfort and safety features. V.W. first said that the bus would be back in 2022. The first electric I.D.s were made in the U.S. By June 2024; Buzz should be sold in stores near you. Short travel time, long journey distance The ID. Buzz is a two-row car shorter in Europe than in the U.S. The US-spec bus is 10 inches long, giving it a 127.5-inch wheelbase and more room inside. The overhangs are kept to a minimum. Now that a third row can be added, there are seven seats. Even though the I.D.Buzz is much bigger than a Type 2 bus (they were called “Microbuses” for a reason), and it has some design elements in common with its predecessor. Even though the front isn’t as flat as the back, it has a similar boxy but rounded shape, vintage “vent” components on the D-pillar, a big front logo that begs to be replaced with a peace sign, and bright, two-tone paint choices. Some bus colours have been seen before, like Energetic Orange, Pomelo Yellow, and Mahi Green. However, Indium Gray, Metro Silver, and Cabana Blue are all new. Please don’t take the gray bus. Instead, take the blue or orange one. The original Type 2 looked nice and helped people and things get from one place to another—the 2025 I.D.Buzz will keep these practices going. Access is simple. The two power-folding back doors reach the third row. Power runs the door, the side mirrors that heat up, and the sliding windows. The 20-inch wheels are another current feature on the outside. Taking Energy for a Spin Customers can choose between a more powerful dual-motor, all-wheel-drive system and a single-motor, one-speed transmission, rear-drive system. Buses with rear-wheel drive make 282 horsepower and 406 lb-ft of torque, while the version with two motors makes 330 horsepower. Since the I.D., the battery is on the floor near the I.D.Buzz is driven by the “skateboard” design of Volkswagen’s Modular Electric Drive (MEB). Our battery’s usable capacity is 86.0 kWh, more than Europe’s. Volkswagen hasn’t released range figures yet, but we expect them to be around 260 miles and that a D.C. fast-charger will take about 30 minutes to go from a 10% battery to an 80% battery. The motor has more power now because the fixed magnets are more robust, and the heat control is better. With the new engine, the I.D.Buzz can go as fast as 99 mph, much faster than the two-row’s 90 mph and the original Type 2’s… walking speed. What comes with The outside of the I.D. is also a mix of new technology and old-fashioned style. Inside, you can also find Buzz Unique. Other colour combinations include a dark, scary blue with dark wood or a bright, happy peach and silver. The seat covers and trim inside the car are not made of leather. The interiors are fun and valuable, with roomy door pockets, rubber-lined dash storage, and small sections that can be moved around in the removable console. Standard features include ambient lighting, hot seats in the second row, and heated, ventilated, and massaging front seats that can be adjusted in 12 different ways. Swipe your finger to make the 67.4-inch electrochromic windshield look like it’s not there. With the standard second-row bench, the I.D.Buzz can fit seven or six people with the extra captain’s chairs for a more roomy ride. The second row folds in half in a 60:40 way and can be moved about eight inches forward or back. The back row can be removed and folded in half for more room for cargo. All three rows are better off now that they have temperature control vents. A small digital dashboard and a 12.9-inch infotainment screen meet all data needs. Other charging needs are met by wireless charging, a standard wireless phone connection, eight USB-C ports, a 110V outlet, and a 12-volt socket in the cargo area. Dash lights show that the car is ready for instructions or to give information about navigation and battery life. The V.W. I.Q. is built into the Buzz. Standard in the Drive driving aid package is adaptive cruise control. Under the sun, there is nothing new. The ID. Buzz will get people’s attention in the school drop-off line and when unloading surfboards in the early morning fog along the coast with the I.D.Buzz safety, comfort, and no-emissions electric upgrades, the new V.W. the bus is an excellent choice for today’s free spirit.
