For the 2025 model year, Volvo will give electric car owners NACS adaptors so that they can charge their cars at Tesla Superchargers. The connector comes with the 2025 EX90, EX40, or EC40 when you buy one. Owners of older Volvo EVs can purchase the adapter for $230 at authorized Volvo dealerships, with shipments starting on November 18. Many automakers have said that their next electric cars will use the North American Charging Standard (NACS) ports, which Tesla made popular. However, this will happen later. At the same time, automakers are making adapters that will let owners of older EVs with charge connections that use the CCS style continue to use Tesla’s Supercharger network. Volvo plans to add the NACS port to its electric vehicles (EVs) in 2025. However, the Swedish carmaker has now announced that customers who buy its 2025 model EVs will receive a NACS adapter later this year. Ford says that the adaptor will allow EV owners to use more than 17,800 Tesla Supercharger stations in the US and Canada. The adapter will come with any Volvo EV for the 2025 model year, such as the new top EX90, the smaller EX40, and the EC40. Drivers of Volvo electric cars made before the 2025 model year will also be able to get the NACS adapters. These can be bought at Volvo stores in the US and Canada. People will be able to buy the adapter, which costs $230, starting November 18. The car company says that information about when the adapter will be available will be shared later with people who want to buy the Volvo EX30. The brand’s first electric car, the EX30, a small SUV that starts at $36,245, was set to come out this year. But Volvo said in June that the EX30 won’t be ready until 2025. The delay is most likely due to the fact that the US taxes electric cars made in China at 100%. While Volvo hasn’t said when the EX30 will go on sale in the US, it plans to start sending them out sometime next year. Polestar, Volvo’s all-electric business, and the company are farther away than they were. However, the second company stated that its customers can now use an adapter to connect to Tesla’s Supercharger Network. Polestar owners who want one can now order one through a repair center for the brand. Deliveries should start showing up in the middle of November. In later versions of Polestar, there will be a standard NACS port.
