The 2025 Chevrolet Tahoe full-size SUV has some small changes to the outside that are so small that you might not notice them if you blink. The major changes are to the ride quality and the inside. The outside looks the same. This is good news because the current Tahoe could be better in a number of ways.

If you look closely at the new Tahoe’s front bumper, you can see that the LEDs have a slightly different shape. This is the most important change. The high-approach front bumper and red front tow hooks are still on the Z71 grade level, but the chrome frame around the tow hooks has been changed. For the RST and High Country trim levels, there are two new paint choices for the outside: Lakeshore Blue Metallic and Cypress Gray. There are also two new types of 24-inch wheels.

We get our first look at the 2025 Chevy Tahoe: A Duramax Diesel with more power and a smoother ride

The 5.3-liter (355 horsepower and 383 pound-feet) and 6.2-liter V-8 (420 horsepower and 460 pound-feet) engines are still available. However, in 2025, the second-generation 3.0-liter Duramax turbodiesel will be available. This engine has 305 horsepower and 495 pound-feet of torque, which is a big jump from the previous diesel’s 277 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque. This is great news for off-roaders who want more low-end power on the tracks because it comes standard on all six trims, even the Z71. On High Country models, the 6.2-liter engine is standard. On RST, Z71, and Premier models, it’s a choice. It’s standard on LS, LT, RST, and Premier trucks. The Tahoe now comes standard with an automatic drive with ten speeds and can pull up to 8,400 pounds.

We have said before that standard coil-spring suspension makes the “body shudder, head toss, and gut jiggle.” Chevy says that the multilink independent rear suspension has been improved so far. More adjustments to the steering should boost driver trust by making the huge car feel smaller and easier to control. Some of the bumps and tosses have been taken care of by improving the Magnetic Ride Control option. So, spring forward (hehe).

The control panel has been lowered on the inside to make the view forward better. The new 17.7-inch infotainment screen, which comes standard on all trim levels and leans slightly toward the driver, is next to the 11-inch digital driver information center. This, along with what looks like fewer hard buttons and knobs, makes the cabin cleaner and more modern. We’ll have to wait and see if daily usability stays the same, though.

Only the Premier and High Country trims used to have Super Cruise. Starting in 2025, however, the LT and RST trims will also be able to get it. Lastly, Chevy has improved the auto-lift tailgate so that it opens when the key fob is detected close behind the car. This is a great improvement if you’ve never learned how to do the dance where you wave your foot under the tailgate to open it. Chevy hasn’t said how much the 2025 Tahoe will cost yet, but that will change when it goes on sale in late 2024.
