There are also major changes to the inside, including a new dashboard with a unique look and two huge circular air vents on either side of it, as well as a redesigned center panel. Two new digital screens are the main attractions: an 11.0-inch gauge screen behind the steering wheel and an 11.3-inch screen that lets you use Equinox’s Google-based entertainment system. The new 1.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine and continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT) power the Equinox. The hood is squared off. The second type of Equinox has an eight-speed automatic transmission instead of a CVT. Front-wheel drive is normal, and all-wheel drive can be added as an option. The soon-to-be-released new Equinox will go up against the best SUVs on the market, such as the redesigned Volkswagen Tiguan, the beautiful Mazda CX-50, and the 10 Best-winning Honda CR-V. What's New? Chevy dealers should start stocking the fourth-generation Equinox, which will debut for the 2025 model year, by the end of 2024. Pros and Cons Pros A lot of standard safety features. Different ways to transmit. Bigger screens. Cons Small space for stuff. Needs a boost in power. Is the gas model as compelling as the EV model? Engine, Transmission, and Performance Every Equinox has a 1.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine that makes 175 horsepower. In front-wheel-drive cars, the turbo is paired with a continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT). If all-wheel drive is chosen, an eight-speed automatic gearbox is used. During our test drive, the Equinox had a smooth, if a bit heavy, handling system, a calm personality, and a nice ride. Off-road ability and athleticism should be taken into account in the equation. Safety The 2025 Chevrolet Equinox comes with a lot of high-tech features to help the driver, like adaptive cruise control with lane-centering. A 360-degree camera system, back pedestrian detection, and traffic sign recognition are some of the other features that can be added. The following are important safety features: Automatic emergency braking systems often identify humans. Standard lane exit warning and help staying in your lane. Standard features include adaptive cruise control that can place the car in its lane. Internal and External Cargo Capacity The Equinox cabin is big enough for adults and can fit a lot of bags or groceries. The inside looks clean and modern, with materials that stand out and the right mix of analog and digital settings. You can get fake leather and cloth upholstery as normal, but the top-of-the-line Active trim has a mix of vinyl and microfiber that makes it look and feel more luxurious. The shift lever is placed on the column, which makes room for storage in the center console. The console has two cupholders, wireless charging for smartphones that can be ordered separately, and a rotary knob for controlling the entertainment system. Fuel Economy and Actual MPG It gets 26 mpg in the city and 28 mpg on the highway. The front-wheel drive Equinox uses the least amount of gas. Even though the all-wheel drive type gets 24 mpg in the city, it gets 29 mpg on the highway, which makes it a better choice for people who want to go on long road trips. We’re still determining this prediction, though, and want to see how fuel-efficient the Equinox really is on our 75 mph highway route. Any new information that comes in will be added to this story. Infotainment and Connectivity The dashboard of every Equinox model has two big digital screens. In the middle of the dashboard, at a slight angle to the driver, there is a tall 11.3-inch multimedia screen. It shows Chevy’s newest entertainment system, which is based on Google and has Wi-Fi and Google Maps guidance built in. There is a stand-alone 11.0-inch digital gauge set in front of the driver that can be reconfigured to fit your needs. Range, Charging, and Battery Life The all-wheel-drive Equinox took 8.6 seconds to reach 60 mph in our tests, which could be better speed. Price and How to Choose The Equinox line has three different types: the LT, RS, and Activ. We suggest that you move up to the RS or Activ trim. The RS looks more like a street-style bike, while the Activ looks more like a tough bike. Both start at the same price so that you can choose between the two. In any case, you will get more gear, different wheel styles, and the option of an exterior two-tone color scheme.
