Our Opinion - 2025 Nissan Armada Review The Nissan Armada is still a full-size SUV with plenty of room for people and things, even though it has gone through a lot of changes for 2025. The Armada can pull a lot, and if you choose the optional four-wheel-drive system, you can go off-road. Rear-wheel drive is normal. Instead of the V-8 engine from the last model, it now has a twin-turbo V-6 engine. Stay calm about not having enough power; the new turbo V-6 has more power and speed than the V-8. To choose from, there are several trim levels, such as the cheaper SV and SL trims, the off-road-focused Pro-4X, and the fully-loaded Platinum Reserve, which is as luxurious as the Armada’s Infiniti QX80 sibling. What's New? To prepare for 2025, the Armada has been totally reworked. It’s now even more like the Nissan Patrol sold worldwide, and the Pro-4X and Platinum Reserve trim levels are brand new. Pros and Cons Pros Bright exterior design. The goal is for driving to become more refined. Luxury and off-road trim options have been added. Cons It’s not a little more fuel-efficient than before. Price hikes for some trims that are pretty big. Not as good as the updated 2025 Chevy Tahoe? Engine, Transmission, and Performance A new 3.5-liter V-6 engine with twin turbochargers has replaced the Armada’s previous V-8. However, with improvements of 25 horsepower and 103 pound-feet of torque, the new V-6 exceeds the V-8, producing 425 horsepower and 516 pound-feet of torque. It has an automatic transmission with nine speeds and can be set up to drive either the front or back wheels. Nissan has added a number of extra features to the Armada to make it better off-road and more fun to drive. Some of these are an air suspension system that can be adjusted for height and a locking rear differential for four-wheel-drive cars. We have yet to have a chance to drive the new Armada, but we’ll keep this area up to date with our thoughts. Safety Safety Shield 360 is a suite of standard driver-assistance features included with every Armada. The tech bundle comes with lane departure warning, automatic emergency braking, blind spot tracking, identifying pedestrians, and more. ProPilot Assist 2.1 helps you drive without using your hands. The following are important safety features: It comes with automatic emergency brakes. Normal lane-keeping assistance and lane departure warning. Hands-free driving mode and adaptive cruise control are both available. Fuel Economy and Actual MPG The EPA claims a combined fuel economy of up to 16 mpg for the V-8. The new twin-turbo V-6 might get a little better gas mileage. While the 2025 Armada’s EPA rating is still pending, the 2025 Infiniti QX80—which has the same engine—has a combined rating of up to 18 mpg. We will provide an update here once we have an opportunity to test drive the Armada, detailing our real-world 75 mph gas mileage test results. Infotainment and Connectivity All trim levels come standard with two 12.3-inch screens that span the dashboard. On the left screen is a digital instrument cluster, and on the right is a touchscreen entertainment system. On better trim levels, the 14.3-inch touchscreen is even bigger. Wireless smartphone mirroring for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto is normal, but you can choose not to use the Google built-in apps. The SL, Pro-4X, and Platinum packages all include a Klipsch 12-speaker audio system. Range, Charging, and Battery Life To reach 60 mph, the Armada will need a fraction of the time it took the previous model, which was 5.9 seconds. We haven’t tested it yet, but it will be faster. Towing and Payload Capacity Nissan says that the Armada will be able to pull up to 8,500 pounds, the same amount as the last model. Price and How to Choose After looking at what Nissan has said about Armada’s trim levels and features, I believe the SL is the best deal. It has a luxury sound system, heated front seats and steering wheel, a motorized liftgate, and third-row seats that fold down automatically. Most trim levels offer four-wheel drive as an extra for $3000, but the off-road-focused Pro-4X comes with it as standard.
