2022 Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross Overview

The 2022 Mitsubishi Lunar Cross, despite its lack of bold new styling, still manages to be eye-catching. Unfortunately, the engine, a 1.5-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder, isn’t quite as impressive as the rest of the vehicle. It has a sluggish performance that is out of character for its market. The Lunar Crucifix has some lovely new device structure, but it may leave you feeling a little short-changed. Does the Eclipse Cross meet your needs? Look at what’s fresh for 2022, the various styles and trims that are currently available, how it drives as well as the expected fuel economy.

The newer group of the Lunar Cross will be completely redesigned in 2022. This means that the front and rear fascia have been updated to look more modern. The previous generation’s split-rear window design has been replaced with a new and improved liftgate in the back of the vehicle. On the LE and higher trim levels, you get an 8-inch touchpad screen and mobile phone app inclusion via Android and Apple Car. Thankfully, the old touchscreen controller is no more. In addition, grey leather upholstery is now an option on the market.

The Lunar Cross is really only available in the form of a crossover. Only a gas-powered engine is available; hybrids are not an option.

The Eclipse Cross is available in Ella, LE, SE, and SEL trim levels. There is a 1.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine that produces 152 horsepower in all of them. This engine is paired with a CVT (continuously variable automatic transmission), better known by its acronym. Front-wheel drive is standard, but an all-wheel drive is an alternative on the greater trim levels.

Starting with the ES, you can enjoy automatic braking and lane-keeping as standard features. Active consistency control, 16-inch alloy wheels with a two-tone finish, LED tail lights and daytime running lights are all included in the package. The 7-inch touchscreen, power windows to cars on the driver’s side, a tilt and extendable wheel, and HD Broadcasting with a 4-speaker sound system are all included in this model’s standard features list.

With the LE, you get access to a new 8-inch touchpad touchscreen infotainment and smartphone apps. The Le comes with 18-inch black alloy wheels, rain-sensing windshield wipers, heated seats, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, and automatic beams are also included.

You get LED headlights and rear pass alert and alley changing assistance when you step up to the SE trim level. As part of a 24-month subscription to Mitsubishi Connect, the car’s seat becomes 8-way power-adjustable, and you get Remote and SafeGuard services via a mobile app.

You get a black main stage and columns, shift paddles, and 8-way power adjustment for the front passenger seat of a car if you upgrade to the SEL trim. In addition to a heated steering wheel, leather-appointed seats, and a multi-view camera, there are a few more luxurious touches.

The Eclipse Cross isn’t known for its speed. The vehicle accelerates from zero to 60 miles in 8.6 seconds. It’s unlikely that this year’s model will be anything but sluggish due to the lack of upgrades to the powertrain. Both the brakes and the suspension have been tuned to provide a pleasant ride.

In high-speed corners, you’ll notice somebody roll, but the car still feels stable enough. The seats will vibrate slightly as a result of small cracks in the structure. In terms of steering, it’s on point and light enough that you don’t feel like you’re constantly adding weight.

The fuel economy of the Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross in 2022 isn’t particularly impressive, but it’s also not horrendous. On the Forwards base ES trim level, the EPA estimates 27 mpg combined. On the highway, the SEL AWD-equipped model gets about 26 mpg, according to real-world testing results. This suggests that the ES must be able to eventually match its forecasted efficiency. Is it a clear winner over the rest? No. Then again, it does not drop below the segment average either.

The entertainment system and safety features of the new 2022 Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross are particularly impressive. It’s a great car for a new generation. A few modifications were required to the base engine, however. Higher trim levels could use a more powerful engine, particularly if it could be balanced with fuel economy.
