The third model includes the 2019 RDX. The RDX is Acura’s small luxury SUV with two rows of seats. If you want a fancier SUV that is more luxurious than most popular brands but not nearly as expensive as competing European luxury SUVs, this model is one to consider. It’s a tweener in that way, but we don’t mean that incorrectly. The RDX is very famous and sells well, and it also looks great from the outside. The only significant change from last year’s model is that all-wheel drive is now standard on all 2024 RDX price levels, even the base model. A lot of high-end SUVs come with the same set of basic features. But once you start adding the things you want, the prices may quickly go over your budget. This is where the Acura RDX comes in handy. From the start, it has many appealing features, such as a panoramic sunroof and warm seats. Acura also makes it very easy and cheap to add things you’ll like, like a great sound system and seats that breathe. The small SUV is made by almost every high-end brand. Many people choose the BMW X3 and Mercedes-Benz GLC because they have luxurious cabins and excellent performance. The Genesis GV70 and Volvo XC60 are also beautiful options. The RDX may cost less than many competitors regarding luxury and high-tech features. What’s wrong is that you can’t get a more robust engine like you can on other models. Pros vs Cons Pros The cabin and the storage area are both very roomy. Great handling and steering. The cabin is in good shape. A lot of technology that is easy to get for a lot less than the competition. Cons There needs to be an engine choice. You can only get options in packages. It can be hard to use the touchpad device. Performance What does the RDX do? The RDX is a good car all around. Its turbocharged engine has a lot of power at low rpm, which lets you speed up quickly from stoplights, and the transmission is very good at picking the right gear for the job. In Invoice Pricing tests, we went from 0 to 60 mph in 6.7 seconds. That’s a little slower than some of the best rivals, but it’s good enough. People feel confident using the brakes because they always work and feel great. When going around bends, there is little body roll. If you want to use the RDX’s athletic ability, you’ll need an all-wheel drive, also known as SH-AWD. This gives the RDX more power when it turns. It is now possible to use the driving wheel properly. It’s light and easy to handle in parking lots, but at higher speeds, it gets tough enough to keep you in control. Comfort How cozy does the RDX feel? The stylish front seats that can be heated or cooled will make many drivers feel good. They also support you and keep you safe as you turn. The suspension does an excellent job of keeping you relaxed while you drive in different types of weather. The RDX stays in control of highway bumps and avoids potholes. Noise in the cabin is mainly muffled, and wind noise is almost nonexistent at freeway speeds. There is some engine noise, but it’s never a problem. The climate control system does an excellent job keeping the car at the right temperature, but you may not like how much air flows into the driver’s hands. Interior What’s the inside like? The RDX has essential features that make it easy to use, but it also has some very different, if not controversial, ideas about how things should be done. The driver might not like how the shifter is set up, the touchpad remote for the entertainment system, or the small buttons for the climate control. Some people may not be able to see well when turning corners because the front roof beams are thick. Power-operated doors on the back hatch make it hard to see out the back. The good news is that there is enough room for people in the front and back. Many drivers should be able to find a comfortable position, and people of average size should have plenty of headroom in the back. Technology How does the tech work? The technology is what makes the RDX stand out. The infotainment system with a touchscreen should appeal to tech-savvy customers, just like the excellent sound system. For people who don’t like learning new things, though, the time it takes to get used to the method might be a deal-breaker. It has a wireless connection and smartphone integration with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Acura’s suite of driving assistance systems is also built-in. This is a big plus in a class where these features are often expensive add-ons. Storage How is the situation with the storage? Acura knows how to pack cars’ interiors well, and the RDX is just one more example of how to make the most of room. With a big trunk and flexible storage options inside, the RDX makes it easier than it should be to carry a lot of stuff. There are 31.1 cubic feet of storage space behind the back seats of the RDX, which is more than most of its competitors. The front seats also have a lot of storage space thanks to the tiered center armrest. The car seat hooks are easy to find, and the back seat is very roomy, so there is plenty of room for car seats. Fuel Economy How about the gas mileage? You can get 24 mpg with front-wheel drive or 23 mpg with all-wheel drive in the RDX. This is less than the Audi Q5 and BMW X3. All three of them need good fuel. The RDX we tested got more than 20 mpg on our mixed-driving test route. Some fill-ups were below that mark. It might take a light foot to get 23 mpg. Value Is the RDX a great car to buy? Luxury SUVs are made to be well-built and full of features. The RDX is thousands of dollars less expensive than famous models, even when they are fully loaded. The RDX is built to last, both inside and out. Its interior style and ergonomics make it stand out from other cars in its class. While it’s smoother and quicker than other options, it’s a good deal if you want something different from the usual German luxury box. Before the 2023 model year, RDX models didn’t offer any clear benefits regarding ownership. However, the RDX now comes with free maintenance for the first two service visits. Wildcard The sharply angular outside will give it away, but the high-tech inside will also. The RDX is all about giving you a unique and up-to-date driving experience. In the compact premium SUV market, it’s an exciting offering. The SH-AWD offers handling that defies physics, but you only really feel the effects of that technology when coming out of certain medium-speed corners. What is Invoice Pricing's Recommendation? The Technology package is what we suggest to most buyers because it strikes an outstanding balance between price and luxury. The Technology package adds stitched synthetic leather seats, a better sound system, multicolor ambient lighting, and GPS for a few thousand dollars more than the base RDX. Different kinds of the Acura RDX The 2024 RDX is a small luxury SUV that can fit five people. It comes in five trim levels: base, Technology, A-Spec, Advance, and A-Spec Advance. The RDX has a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine that makes 272 hp and 280 lb-ft of torque. For free, it has all-wheel drive and an automatic engine with ten speeds. 2024 Acura RDX Video Review
