2025 BMW 3 Series Overview

What’s new:

  • The 3 Series gets a small change in 2025.
  • A little more power, some new features on the outside, and a small change inside.
  • There are no more 330e plug-in hybrids on the market.
  • A part of the seventh generation 3 Series, which will come out in 2019.

A few small changes have been made to the 2025 BMW 3 Series to make it more appealing than the 2022 model. The M340i, which is designed for speed, and the 330i, which is more affordable, are the only two models left. The last 330e plug-in hybrid car was made in 2025. The 3 Series is still a great high-end car all around, with a well-built interior and the latest technology. BMW wants to show off its next crop of cars as soon as next year, so the current model year of the 3 Series is likely to be its last.

The newest BMW infotainment system has new software and changed screen layouts to make it easier to use. The M340i’s engine has a few more horsepower and mild hybrid technology, which makes it more agile and uses a little less gas.

Mercedes has a strong rival in the form of the C-Class. The inside is a little fancier than BMW’s, but the tech features are pretty much the same. Also, Audi just released the A5, its newest midsize car, which will replace the A4 that has been around for a long time. Then there’s the Genesis G70 and the Lexus IS, but those are older cars with less cutting-edge tech.

Pros

  • Better manipulation.
  • A large room with a stylish, up-to-date look.
  • Motors that are strong and save fuel.

Cons

  • The ride is a little too hard sometimes.
  • The most advanced driving assistance features for the 3 Series can be added as options.

How does the 3 Series get its power? It looked like a 330i with all-wheel drive. It has a powerful four-cylinder turbocharged engine that responds quickly and doesn’t need many revs to get the job done. The test car went from 0 to 60 mph in 5.6 seconds, which is pretty fast for a small luxury sedan with a basic engine. It’s even more surprising how flexible the engine is when the transmission shifts quickly.

One of the best things about the 330i is its stopping power, which is great all the way through. When driving slowly, the pedal is smooth and easy to use. When driving quickly, it is strong, stable, and sure of itself. We also really like how easy it is to turn the car. With the M Sport package, you have more control over how the 330i moves. Even though experienced drivers might like a little more fun, this beautiful car is still very fast to drive.

How does it feel to drive the 3 Series? The ride in our test 330i was very stiff. The issue was with the extra-sport suspension (part of the M Sport package) and the rough-riding tires on our test car. If comfort is important to you, you should get a 3 Series without the M Sport option. We really like how quiet the 3 Series is inside when we’re on the road. There are also many ways to change and support the front seats.

How is the state of the inside? The driving position is perfect, with great visibility and balance between the driver, the steering wheel, and the pedals. Most of the controls are simple and easy to use. For example, the buttons for changing songs are easy to understand, and the temperature in the cabin can be easily set with virtual scales. The newest version of the iDrive software is quick and easy to use. You can use a button or your finger to control the main screen. The BMW’s wide doors make getting in and out a little easier, especially in the back. On paper, the interior is about as roomy as the seats of similar small luxury cars.

What’s wrong with the tech? The all-digital Curved Display dashboard on the 3 Series is truly revolutionary. It has all the features we’ve come to expect from a modern luxury car. We’ve already said that the 3 Series’ iDrive navigation system needs to be fixed in a number of ways, including being too hard to use. That’s not true anymore. It looks great with the big touchscreen in the middle, and the usual iDrive knob next to the shifter almost doesn’t seem necessary with how easy it is to use. You can use Apple CarPlay to make your phone the main screen in your car if you want to. BMW knows that technology rules today’s culture, even if the digital instrument panel that looks like a video game bothers BMW enthusiasts.

BMW charges a small extra fee for simple features like adaptive cruise control and lane-keeping assistance that help with driving and active safety. We have sometimes seen the adaptive speed control system suddenly apply the brakes, but these features usually work without any problems.

What’s going on with storage? When the big trunk’s lid is dropped, the veiled lid hinges keep the stuff inside from getting crushed. There are two 40/20/40 splits in the back seatback. When folded, the splits are almost flat. The bedroom has enough space to store small things.

The 3 Series works well as a family car. Under the flip-up lids, the Isofix hooks for attaching child safety seats are easy to find and clearly marked. With the extra room, all but the largest drivers can fit a bigger rear-facing car seat behind them.

How much fuel does it use? The 330i xDrive gets 27 mpg in the city and 39 mpg on the highway, which is surprisingly good for how fast it is. (The M340 is a little less fuel-efficient than the 330i with rear-wheel drive.) We got an average of 31.3 mpg on our 115-mile test drive, which was better than we expected. Other tanks that were heavily used got in the low 20s mpg.

How much is the 3 Series worth? Not only is the 3 Series not the most expensive car in its class, but it also could get better gas mileage. The thing you buy is of good quality, it works well, and it comes with free maintenance as a bonus. If you want to get the best deal, check out what other sectors are offering. A guarantee will usually cover a high-end brand.

BMW can still make a cute little car. The majority of people will be happy with this 3 Series. But the 330i is probably going to fail to meet the needs of people who like to drive for fun. The M340i probably makes things a little more intense. In terms of design, the inside has its style, while the back of the car has features that remind me of Lexus’s design. It’s something new for a 3 Series, and it might not be a good thing.

As of this writing, BMW has yet to share all the information about the 2025 3 Series. We will change our suggestion if something changes, but based on the 3 Series from last year, we still like the entry-level 330i. This car has a strong four-cylinder engine and all of the important tech features of the 3 Series.

Styles of the BMW 3 Series

The BMW 3 Series car comes in two different styles: the 330i and the M340i. Their goals are very different. The base model for the 3 Series is the 330i, while the M340i is the most powerful and fast one.
